For a "not a Martins man" and "a neutral" you seem to know alot about them.......

Senior semi finals were 2 good games, taught Castletown would push on after the fast start but Gusserane showed serious resolve to get back in it,for Castletown it was probably a sum of the parts type performance rather than individual stand out performances, Kilanerin were a joy to watch in the 1st 20 mins of the 2nd game, in hindsight Shels managed the black card period very well and used it as a bit of a reset, taught Donohoe was outstanding all through for the Shels with Keane Carroll and O'Gara powerful in the 2nd half, Keane Carroll is definitely good enough for a go at Senior county panel in either code if he wanted it. Should be a good final, 2 teams who to be honest wouldn't have much fondness for each other so should add some extra spice to it.

Replying To Lockerroomboy:  "Read the report in local paper everyone agrees the game was gifted to cushintown, st martins lads hit hard and fair but cushintown got dirty and two red cards, cushintown scored 6 points wow wee, 1 goal and 1 point gifted anyway I'm not worried as I'm a neutral"
The report in the paper doesn't really back up your comment. It highlights the treatment porter was receiving off the ball.

Also to say a game was gifted to a team who didn't score from play until 40 minutes into the game is laughable

Replying To TerribleFootwork:  "Your Martins were the better team stuff is a bit bizarre, If you can't win when your a man up for 45 mins then your can't really complain."
It is off the way that losing teams and their supporters often justify the loss, we were the better team but we just couldn't score or if we didn't hit all those wides. Same argument when Wexford lost to Dublin in the Hurling. Better teams turn up on te day and do what has to be done to win on the day. What a team has done before hand or after is irrelevant.

Replying To countyman2022:  "Is that why they didn't score from play in a half of football? Being the better team? Pulling down players off ball, throwing them to the ground. Constant sledging. Those antics. Cushinstown stood up to them and wouldn't allow themselves to be bullied, paid the price with the reds but got the win and are in a Co. Final. Two members of the Martins panel waited for one of the players sent off after the match in the car park to confront them and kick off again. There's no place for that."
Cushintown man stamped on a young st martins man and received a red card, what you expect

I'd expect to shake hands and congratulate the winners like all good sports people do.

I've told you that myself in numerous posts! If you aren't a Martins man you are definitely a Martins supporter, going by your posts over the last few years.

Should the Taghmon lads have waited in the carpark in Bree for a fella that pucked a lad on the chin, putting him on his back, for calling him fat and got away with it then because the ref didn't see it? No they shouldn't. And they didn't.

Replying To Pikeman96:  "Wasn't in the Park on Saturday and so I haven't seen either of these incidents, and I don't even know who the fourth official was, but am guessing it was a certain somebody who has a reputation for being a little....let's say "overly officious".

However, his reputation means that even if he does something that's both correct and appropriate in the circumstances, he tends to get criticised for it anyway. It's a bit of a "boy who cried wolf" situation. Am guessing that might be what's happening here."
I wasn't at the game on Saturday - was talking to a few who were and i also read the report on the game in the paper.
The fourth official in question wasn't the person that there has been multiple incidents with in the past, he is an experienced referee in hurling but i dont think he referees football at all - seems to do a lot of fourth officials on football matches in the park.
From reading the report in the paper the reporter seemed quite critical of the referee as there seemed to be a lot of off the balls stuff which wasn't picked up. He also pointed out that the two red card incidents seemed to be picked up by the fourth official. I cant figure out if he was being complimentary to the fourth official who seemed to be the only one with his eyes open. or if he was having a dig at him. Again anyone i talked to said both of the Red cards were merited. One for starting a row (third man in) one for a stamp.

How immature to call a player fat, stamping on a young lad when on the ground that's another level, boxing happens in matches but it shouldn't, but stamping on a player, disgusting

Ya a player gets stamped on, so after game he shake hands with the culprit, stamping on a player is the worst cowardly act ever, it's up there with spitting and eye gouging etc

I was looking at the Senior final preview online this morning. Not sure what that lad from Crossabeg was on about with the early goal Castletown got in the 2022 final and how they held on etc. Fairly sure they were 5 or 6 down early on and then got it back a bit before half time before pushing on in the 2nd half with the wind. Oh and there was NO GOAL in the match.

Yes, eye gouging and spitting are deplorable....
as is waiting in a car park to "reprimand" a perceived culprit.

So just wait for lads in the carpark to go start more rows? Sounds like the Martins indeed.

I'm not condoning the stamp. The lad was sent off for it and rightly so. But waiting in the carpark to start a brawl in front of a heap of kids and other spectators is ****bag carry on.

Finals Preview
Castletown have been doing enough in the knockout stages and looked primed for the final in my opinion. Has the makings of a great game. Shels showed real bottle to get over Kilanerin in the end. Both teams have completely upped their standard in the last couple of years. Iv tipped Castletown all year and I'm not going to change and I think they'll win by 2 points.

Gorey v Cushinstown: Gorey will be more athletic but I think Cushinstown might have better footballers. Eoin Porter has been collosal for them and they'll need more around the field. Molloy has been playing well for Gorey but I think they'll need more contributions from their forwards. I do think the winner of this might struggle in senior, especially Gorey if it reverts back to alternate weeks. Cushinstown age profile isn't great. I'm going to give a hesitant nod to the men from the north county.

Kilmore v Rosslare: Would see Rosslare as a middle of the road intermediate team and they seem to have got their confidence back after dropping down a couple of years ago. Kilmore will battle hard but are limited and I'm tipping Rosslare by 5

Junior SF
Oylegate v sars: Sars
Alley v Castletown: Castletown

Shels by 6

Best team in the county over the last 3 seasons, obviously had an off day last year in the final perhaps with an eye on Leinster the following week. In general, they have been head and shoulders above everyone over that time period and complacency probably cost them a shot at 3 in a row this Sunday. Expect Shels to start hard and fast and then play keep ball for much of the game which may expose the Castletown tactics of 13 behind the ball and counter attack. Not sure Castletown have beaten much to date in 2023 whereas Shels beat a quality Kilanerin side last week.

Cushinstown by 2

Not necessarily sure they have the better players but something is telling me that R/C can get over the line in this one. Impressive semi final win and a battle hardened squad who have been on the road a number of years. Gorey a relatively new squad and the format obviously helps them with the football side of things, they have the quality but the appetite of the opposition might just shade it.
