U16s won the D3 football today."
Think Minors won the Division 1 Shield.
Bannow / Gusserane won the Premier Shield.
But don't blame you for getting mixed up with all the County Finals that get played these days.

Is it Club/ County you are on about?"
Yes I mean club/county, split club season or back to alternate weeks next year will be a tight vote I'd say.

Will hurling clubs vote for same or for alternative weeks or blocks.
Will the weather in Sept October swing them back towards retaining same structure of last 2 years .
Yes weather was poor in July August too but the underfoot conditions were certainly better than late Sept October.
Could you hurl in most of the popular used grounds in those underfoot conditions belfield, Ross, Wexford Park would it be protected as usual .
Or would ferns be the go too for pitches .
I d fear the championship would nt have finished by now . Due to lack of pitches/daylight postponements etc.
How many pitches with lights are suitable for hurling championship that are used for football at present .
6 different adult divisions to be played in both codes plus all the underage semis and finals both cup and shields.
Referees etc.. surely be a problem too .
Yes I know football was played out . But with hurling weekends would it be too condensed. Matches played over Saturdays/ Sundays only ? Especially if clubs have 3 or more adult teams . Nightmare scenario fir fixtures committee I'd imagine .
No preference either way just asking the question

You can hurl alright in those conditions it mighnt be as pretty as a warms summers day in Bellefield or Wexford park but many counties have hurled up to last week why would we be any different. Iv no preference myself. Players seem to like split season, don't think they'll alternate with football going first and played out, so it's either stick to the status quo or alternate codes each week. Think a vote on that might be tight. Can anyone tell me why ferns COE wasn't used for any matches this year, state of the art sand based pitches laying idle all summer, I know there's construction work going on there but that's on the building if I'm correct

Whatever is chosen, playing proper hurling for only 7-8 weeks of the year is a total disaster for hurling in the county.
Its not just a Wexford problem, the whole calendar needs a total rethink. The club and inter county game need to live together throughout the year. Not just rushing everything off to suit the other and nobody being happy.

Due to be on next weekend once the football was to completed this weekend. But with one of the football semi-finals being postponed until Friday I'm not sure when they will play the football final or will that impact the hurling. I can't see any of the matches being mid week with so many lads in college, but you never know what way they will deal with it.

There's work going on at the COE all right, but it's mainly on pitches rather than the building - i.e. seeding the new pitches, and some improvements works on the existing pitches, including on the banks around the main one. That's why games haven't been played there.

The other work that's been taking place is on the new entrance way off the old N11. I drove by it the other day and saw that tarmac has been laid - will make a big difference to anybody who's used to going in the back way!

So far as I know, there hasn't been any work at all yet on the building, and that'll be in the next phase of works.

Some of the semi-finals in the lower grades are fixed for this Saturday (Nov 11), but no dates yet for the Premier semi-finals. Suppose the Harriers can't play their semi-final for so long as Sarsfields are involved in the football.

It was actually only proposals for the All County League and for general changes to competition regulations that were due by Friday and that will be considered at the next County Board meeting.

Was decided at the last one to put championship proposals back to the January meeting. Reason being that Leinster Council will meet during December to agree the calendar for next year's Leinster Club Championships, and whatever they decide might have an affect on things, particularly with regard to the split hurling/football season.

For instance, if we'd known this year that the hurling champions wouldn't be playing in Leinster until November 11/12, there'd have have 19 weeks to run off our championships if we'd decided for alternate weeks/blocks, instead of the 16 weeks that it had be done in because of hurling going first.

Yeah that is very true. They may have to throw some midweek games in at some point or else the hurling could go into mid December weather permitting

Yeah, but I'd agree with what you said yourself above, that unlikely any U21 matches to be fixed midweek due to lads being away in college.

If there are no more weekends lost due to bad weather, I'd expect something like the following:
November 11/12 (this weekend) - remaining football semi-finals & some of the hurling semi-finals
November 18/19 - either football finals, remaining hurling semi-finals, or some combination of both
November 25/26 - whatever outstanding business remains from Nov. 18/19! And possibly one of the hurling finals, depending on the clubs involved
December 2/3 - the remaining hurling finals

Now remember all that timeframe would have to go back four weeks if they hadn't played two rounds of hurling in July & two rounds of football in August....just goes to show again how there's no "good" time to play U20/U21.

makes sense to wait for leinster dates and see if it gives a bit more time to run off our chamo, dont no how we would of gotten 19 weeks though

Not sure about having any extra weeks if Leinster hurling is in Mid November. You are really tied to the first Leinster date, which is usually football as they have more teams in those competitions. Pretty much all clubs are dual so you couldn't bank on having those 3 or 4 weeks free since the football final. Shels, Gorey and Rosslare this year would have all been in Leinster football action which is a weekend gone straight away and if any of them happened to win a game (which has proven common enough especially at Intermediate & Junior levels) then those extra weeks are completely ruled out.

Actually think the current system works well for the majority of clubs at the moment and I think when it comes to the crunch the voting might show that too.

Yep, I don't envy anyone having to deal with fixtures and getting pitches etc..

Its crazy really isn't it? If it was not for Pats Park being in such condition and fair play to the team up there looking after it, we would be in an awful situation with so many championships still not finished as it is. Was a great idea to close the Park in October with only Pats Park and a handful of club grounds being playable.

Can't see it happening unfortunately. Can see both KK and OLG winning by 10+. They'll both see themselves having a chance at winning Leinster.
