They name James McCarthy player of the year. Then say they have got it wrong.

She is. But they missed a huge opportunity when they didn't give it to evanne. Now there's a woman who knows her sports and can get pundits to to actually talk. Huge own goal on RTÉ part

The Sunday Game is the same as other sports programmes; pundits and presenters have no personality and they seem to be afraid to say the right thing, not offend anyone and they spend a lot of time contradicting themselves. Donal óg being the exception. I don't understand why ex Dublin and Kerry players are on the panel because they are, naturally, biased - Paul Flynn was particular bad last night. Tómas O'Sé and Ciaran Whelan at least try to be neutral. Aside from Enda McGinley, the new crop introduced this year haven't brought much to the status quo. I listened to Saturday Sport on Radio One and Colm O'Rourke injected a good degree of humour into the conversation; Joanne seem to respond positively to the jibes with him. While she may have some flaws, she isn't the problem in relation to the programme. In rn relation to the match itself, yesterday's game was an average game of football, I know the weather made it difficult but there were a huge amount of mistakes and Dublin should have won by a wider margin as I thought they were the best team by a good way. Unfortunately until there is a change in styles both on and off the pitch; the product including the punditry is going to continue to be low risk ... more off the cuff play and less of the clipboard.

Eh! The panel named James McCarthy as player of the year! Thomas O'Se announced it. But he wasn't his vote. That's how these things work! I presume you wear slip on shoes!

To be fair I think they are also straight jacketed by a very on-script show. Whoever the show producer is is probably the one to blame. Donal Og was the closest to going off script and came out with something controversial. The football pundits just seem to have lost their passion, there never seems to be any bit of heated debate over an incident. It's all very moderated and yes I hear your point but I disagree like they are in some sort of counselling session. There should be mandatory three half-one's each before going on air."
This is the thing though she tries to provoke then when someone takes the bait she gets all primary school teacherish! You can't have it both ways!

I would always watch the Sunday Game, but i do agree she is a bit of a bore

Tomás livened up the football too when he joined up later in the season. He wouldn't be one for the scripts.

They never said that they got it wrong. Thomas O'Se said that he thought that they had got it wrong. It was just his opinion, not everyone else's.

You should know at this stage that all RTE do is score own goals….

You'd wonder who their agents are or whose stable they belong to. Maybe that is below the belt. After all that bull of the last few weeks, nobody really knows who calls the shots when allocating the various slots. I personally think Ms Cantwell doesn't do a great job. I too rarely watch TSG anymore. I am all for gender equality but for gods sake let them be up to the job. Not just token equality. Then you see some mixing sports ? What's all that about ? For me, removing Brolly was the start of a slide into mediocrity. Love him or hate him at least he brought a bit of life to the show. It can be interesting to watch the eye contact between pundits and presenter when asked their opinions. I know it is a different sport but just maybe it wasn't only the football that Liam Brady had fallen out of love with.

Should be all neutral on the panel,Counties involved should have no former players in studio,Enda spoke about Mc Carthy possibly been lucky to stay on the pitch(in my opinion he shud of been sent off, probably the only thing Gough got wrong) and when he finished speaking it was directed over to Flynn who completely changed the subject.....Former players are never going to give an honest answer/opinion on der own county players

Cantwell always looking for a controversy even if there isn't one. Bill O'Herlihy used to say that his job was to the let the pundits at it and ask the questions that every other mere mortal wanted to ask. Maybe not his exact words but you get the jist.

I like Canavan. I certainly listen to what he has to say. Hard for him to do Tyrone though with sons in the squad.

Whelan is a bit of a bore I find. Sorry Dubs!
Give Keegan a chance. It's his first year.
Tomás seems to make things up as he goes along. And he needs to stop with those long blinks! Not very camera trained is he?

Fitzmaurice on the commentary is very good even if he doesn't have the voice for it. Speaks in a drone but he picks up on things happening in the game very quickly.

Agree that there's no craic on it. Cavanagh tried to rise Keegan on Sunday about his non existent AI medals. It went down like a lead balloon.
These are the times we live in I guess.

Also Maloney is a very good commentator

I fully agree with neutral panels on the Sunday Game. Having pundits from the competing counties, they will hardly criticise their own county.

make up your own mind on the game. If you need stuffed shirts to interpret it for you you shouldn't be watching it.

Fitzmaurice is an excellent commentator, very knowledgeable and fair to all teams. I've had my say on Cantwell. I think she tries to control all conversations and pundits like a prim schoolteacher. It seems to be all about her. Whelan has been there too long while O'Se used to be good but he just looks bored now. The whole programme is as stale as month old bread. I always found Dara O'Cinneide very good and couldn't understand why he wasn't part of The Sunday Game set up.
