Seems very unfair if that's the case though? Why not Hyde Park so in that instance

Tullamore and Portloaise are actual neutral venues which are an equal distance from both and neither are overly familiar with

Don't be surprised to see Galway vs Armagh and Roscommon Vs Kildare as double header in Croke Park

Fergal Logan was interviewed and said there is talk of Beffni, Newry or Carrick on Shannon for the Tyrone vs a Westmeath game.

Cavan is a hour away, roughly, for both counties. Carrick is a good 1.45 from Omagh. 1 hour from Mullingar.

Cavan is the perfect venue

Cavan is the perfect venue but it's also the perfect venue for Galway/Armagh which will need to be on at the same time.

Seen a "leaked" Whatapp of fixtures. Will be interesting if they are correct

I wouldn't think Brefnni Park is a great venue for Galway fans to travel to. Dublin would be more direct and safer to travel on?

100% agreed, but I don't think Croke Park should be the venue during the group stages either.
Croker should be kept for Q-finals onwards.
Maybe the flip for Clones or The Hyde?

Should quarter-finals be in Croke Park? The Tailteann group winners will host Tailteann quarter-finals.

Clones, Croke Park, Thurles, PUC, Killarney, Limerick, Galway and Castlebar are probably the list of stadia that can host All-Ireland quarter-finals. Group winners could have the carrot of home advantage or choice of venue.

The 4 Provincial winners could have three home games as a reward for winning their Provincial championship, the runners up getting 2 home games, 3rd seed teams get 1 home game and 4th seeds playing all their game's away from home. The team that then tops the group has home advantage for a quarter final or they can nominate a venue of their choice.

At least HQ had the common sense not to use Croke Park for any of the round 3 games.

Carrick is a better bet all round

Donegal v monaghan in omagh at 6 on a Saturday, a complete bottleneck, nightmare to get in and out of, why not breffni Park or brewster Park?

Very rare we hear a comment like that and totally agree even though I hate that we are in Omagh at 6 on a Saturday.

Cork v Mayo in Limerick is a bad idea

Won't get much more than 5k and they will be lost there.

Ennis would be a much better option

Replying To Temple56:  "After the draw this afternoon we know that round 3 will be held in neutral venues. I have had a stab at choosing the venues. Of course Croke Park will be used for at least 2 games but I have not picked Croke Park for any of the games as I have gone with stand alone fixtures to fill stadiums and create a better atmosphere. This fixtures also depend on how wins provincial finals over the next 2 weeks. I have predicted that all 4 favorites will win them. (Galway, Kerry, Dublin and Derry)

Kerry VS Louth - O'Moore Park, Portlaoise - Capacity: 22,000
Mayo VS Cork - TUS Gaelic Grounds - Capacity: 44,000

Tyrone VS Westmeath - Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon - Capacity: 10,000
Galway VS Armagh - Breffni Park, Cavan - Capacity: 25,000

Dublin VS Sligo - Dr. Hyde Park, Roscommon - Capacity: 19,000
Roscommon VS Kildare - O Connor Park, Tullamore - Capacity: 18,000

Derry VS Clare - MacHale Park, Castlebar - Capacity: 26,000
Monaghan VS Donegal - Healy Park, Omagh - Capacity: 18,000

Imagine the atmospheres that we could get at some of these games!!!"
Kerry Vs Louth - Portlaoise
Capacity - 22,000
predicted attendance - 7,500 (5,000 Louth, 2,500 Kerry)

Cork Vs Mayo - Limerick
Capacity- 44,00
Predicted attendance - 7,000 (6,000 Mayo, 1,000 Cork)

Galway Vs Armagh- Carrick
Capacity- 10,000
Predicted attendance- 10,000 (Armagh 8,000, Galway 2,000)

Westmeath Vs Tyrone - Cavan
Dublin Vs Sligo - Cavan
Capacity- 25,000
Predicted attendance- 16,000
(Westmeath 1,000, Sligo 3,000, Dublin 8,000, Tyrone 4,000)

I think most observers will say Carrick on Shannon for Armagh v Galway is simply a poor choice, 9,000 capacity for a fixture that pulled in over 50,000 last yr
It's 3 hours to Carrick
I definitely agree - take the games out of Croke park - but tullamore would have been ideal - Carrick will be trek through the backroads of Cavan

Teams could earn the extra home game through their performances in round 1 and round 2. Galway and Tyrone having home advantage in Round 3 for example.

Big difference between a Quarter Final and a Group game to decide 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
