Full stadiums promote the game better than half full ones. Obviously won't happen for this year Connacht final but maybe the "arrangement" might be tweaked for the future. Here is hoping we can run Galway to 7 points

Absolutely agree on the stadiums. Nothing more atmosphere sapping than half full big stadiums. Madness playing some of those last 16 games in Croker last year like Roscommon and Clare.

Too late this year but maybe going forward."]I'm amazed that Stand in Markievicz can hold 3,500+. Than again it runs the whole length of the pitch. Hyde is banned from holding CFs since 2018 until loads of work is done. We're limited to 18k at present but of course could fit in 22 or 23k at least. Season ticket holders is also an issue for the Connacht council, between Sligo and Galway there are more than 4000 season ticket holders, take out sponsor seats and player issued tickets for family and you have a seat shortage straight away. You need 5,000 plus seats at a minimum. Personally I'd prefer to go back to The Hyde than Castlebar, the pitch is better, Roscommon town is closer and more vibrant and there are no pillars in the way from your seat in the stand. Well if you can do the loaves and fishes miracle and get another 1500 seats it may have been suitable! But the Connacht council issued tickets today to Season ticket holders so we are going to Castlebar.

I'm starting to think it'll be below 10,000 maybe around 7,000 or 8,000.

Agree on Castlebar. May be a big stand but those pylons. Built old school. Also very few male toilets for the stand. For all the criticism of Salthill they have far more toilets at the back of that stand.

Galway on last I heard had over 2k and that was before last season. Increased significantly when PJ took over. Don't think it was ever 90 previously. Under KW I heard circa 900 but this has grown.

I'd say the ticket holders will be able to lie down over 5 or 6 seats at Castlebar. Just trying to open up a path for Markievicz to be muted as venue in future for Connacht final when Crowd is expected to be under 18k. Ennis would have been some venue for Kerry Clare final too. The smaller teams with smaller grounds have to try and get home venues when it is their "turn" for Provincial finals to give them some sort of edge and GAA also need to showcase full crowds at silverware games. Would be great viewing on TV too. It's off to Castlebar this year for us and here is hoping for a competitive game. Galway are an up and coming team and should be able to put it up to Sligo
