Thanks Jim. I didn't have a great feeling going in to yesterday and felt that Dublin might win a bit of an arm wrestle which is kind of what happened towards the end. It could have gone either way but Dublin seized their chances and we didn't, cool heads and experience came through. This kerry team should have other opportunities and will be there or thereabouts for a while but I don't think they are ever going to dominate the game to any extent. Hopefully we are entering a period in football where we have a spread of genuine contenders for Sam each year. GeniusGerry (Kerry) - Posts: 2113 - 31/07/2023 19:59:25 2498218 Link 2 |
Kerry should to hoping to meet either Galway or Mayo in the 2024 final for another handy All Ireland. They always roll over in finals.

Exactly. 1 free turned that game as was very even up to that point. Every county has fans that just want to keep you down.

Your username is apt. You ré crafty alright. The post you are replying to is a post where I was thanking posters for their nice post concerning the death of the Cliffords Mom. Also if you are a Galway man you not too loyal. Galway did nt lie down last year and like us with Dublin it was nip and tuck. One needs luck too to win a final and we ran out of it this year we got it v Galway. Your post might be trying to get at Kerry but it's disrespectful towards both Mayo and Galway.

Something in it though. In the post Micko era, Kerry have won All Irelands against Mayo (3), Galway (2), Cork (2) and Donegal. Kerry have lost Finals to strong Ulster teams, Armagh and Tyrone twice and have lost four Finals to Dublin.

What's going on in Kerry? Square_B (Leitrim) - Posts: 1024 - 07/09/2023 17:39:10 2503460 Link 1 |
Do the All-Irelands Dublin and Donegal won against Mayo also not count?

You are missing the point its not about dub and done gala the person was saying Kerry won only because mayo loose finals and others teams

Never mind bitterness if that's all they have to moan about about who kerry beat in finals at least kerry can win and get to finals regularly. Not kerryman but touch of stupidity with some comments dubs are great team.

Same person probably thinks Galway will win it every year make mind up anyway negative of your county says much.Exactly how much has kerry won compared to every team bar dub most successful county in terms of all ireland so and will add more to it. Guarantee they will or could win it again next year

Not much chat on here from Kerry posters, but I thought the recent comments from Sean Kelly and a few others about the unfairness of the Kerry county championship were interesting. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2187 - 03/11/2023 10:25:04 2511383 Link 0 |
What does that mean, Jack hasn't won back to back unless he wins the next two, sure that's true for all current managers except Dessie who only needs the next two for three in a row! And I think Dessie will be gunning for three in a row in '25. For a few reasons I think this Dublin team will raise it a few notches this coming championship and I believe that will be more than enough to fend off a relatively poor chasing pack. sligo joe (Dublin) - Posts: 793 - 03/11/2023 12:06:03 2511409 Link 1 |
Are O'Rahillys just been petty. If they were good enough they wouldn't of been in the relegation. County championship gives the smaller club players a chance at the top level every year. Other senior clubs have been relegated before and came up. If they as Good as say they are should be back next year. Will they do the talking on the pitch or just start shouting about where they think their entitled to be

It was actually the Na Gaeil manager who raised it after the game first, rather than O'Rahilly's. They only spoke out later. Sean Kelly also raised it and he's from neither club. However, my main issue has nothing to do with this. It's more to do with the point I made about Dingle. I do think it's very tough on them as a relatively small club, who have their strongest team in decades but haven't been able to win a county title due to how strong a couple of the divisional teams are currently. Was at a few Dingle matches last year. They are great club but no doubt both the amount of games they have had to play coming from club to county and the quality of the divisional teams has hit them. Came very close to beating East Kerry last year. I fancy them to go close in AI series with the bit of a rest. Much better team than O'Rahilly's last year and they gave Crokes a rattle. I read recently that both Austin Stacks, and Kerins O'Rahillys from Tralee will be playing Intermediate football next season. I was surprised that two big clubs from the capital town have been relegated. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1879 - 03/11/2023 19:40:47 2511464 Link 0 |
My post was a reply to a poster saying Jack O Connor never managed back to back All irelands.I was stating that many a great manager never did back to back.Yes if Dublin win next year Dessie will join the chosen few.

The Kerry county championship is great in the fact it gives every footballer a chance even junior b a chance to play in the senior county championship. However it used have loads of senior clubs and then maybe 9 or 10 divisional teams (made up of intermediate and junior clubs in close proximity to eachother). It was a great system. However Croke park then made a rule there can only 16 teams allowed in the championship so Kerry changed the structure to 8 senior clubs and 8 divisional teams. This though means clubs number 9 to 16 are now in with divisional teams making some teams too strong and making it harder for clubs to retain senior status. This also affect other counties as it makes Kerry clubs very strong in the all ireland intermediate championship and its no coincidence clubs from Kerry are winning regularly.Ideally there should be at least 12 senior clubs in Kerry for the championship .
