It included somebody from a club near me who was a good hurler himself all right, but who hasn't actually coached/managed at any level above Go Games. He might turn out in time to be a good coach or manager all right, but going straight into an inter-county set-up with ambitions of winning a Leinster title would surely be a bit of a stretch. Regarding Sean Treacy is where you are wrong and the county board are putting their own spin on it to suit their narrative. Sean Treacy was seemingly gonna be there every second weekend until mid January which is correct but from then on was going to be a full part of the set up at training, practice games and on championship day. Jacob wouldn't budge on the extra person as he had full belief in himself and who he had with him and had already added 2 or 3 people the co board had asked for. Jacob has seemingly moved on and should be respected for that. He was one of our great players the last 25 years and deserves credit for putting himself in the firing line to do the job , like O Connor. Brought an average Clongeen from Junior to Int A in 2 years, now unbeaten in 16 games which is a great accomplishment. Minor Premier titles last year,hurling and football, first to do it I think. He certainly has an ocean of experience. Rory Jacobs main man only available every 2 weeks it's strange, maybe tied up elsewhere,Donna how you could run 2 teams at one time, virtually impossible. Don't think County Board did anything wrong here and personally wouldn't be a fan of CC,as poster above said they tried add someone to the ticket unless there is more to it. Sean Treacy coming in every second week was not the end of the world, the likes of Joe Kearns would have worked with him with St Anne's and could surely have taking the sessions along with Noel Carton and Tony Murphy. Anyway how many pitch sessions would they have done from now til January.Jacob would have played under many a quality coach and should have been giving full backing . Well I just heard he had Martin Byrne , Seamus Casey, Benny Jordan, Paudie Casey , Michael O Hanlon , Lar Leacy plus goalkeeper coach Colm Carr. Ahletics coach in William Spratt Murphy. Plus more . I don't know the ins and outs of Sean Treacy's availability, or all details of the CVs of Mickey Laffan's proposed backroom team, but I do know that the appointment was in the hands of the Hurling Advisory Committee rather than the County Chairman or others on the County Board. That committee is made up of people like Adrian Fenlon, Doc O'Connor, Liam Griffin, and Niall Williams. If they felt Jacob's team wasn't quite all it could be, and that O'Connor rather than Laffan was next in line when Jacob refused to add to his team, then in fairness, I think their opinion would have to be respected even if you don't happen to agree with it yourself. Do you think Jack Redmond has done enough at u20 level or club to merit a starting place on the senior team? I doubt it.Then again I would like to be proved wrong. I agree with most of your team but I would always include Dee. His experience is essential to the team and I don't think we can afford to leave him on the bench. Yes youth must be given its fling but it must be backboned with seasoned players. OHanlon I believe still has something to offer. Of course if some of our established players are not up to speed in training then it's Keith Rositters job to make the changes. Let's hope the Walsh Cup and league games will help to build a solid team for the championship. Another thing is, will we have a cleaner bill of health in 2024. Jack Redmond is unlikely to be in the team. He was struggling at u20 this year. Think Byrne Dunbar definitely, and Cian Byrne maybe, would be more likely to be starting. Seamie O'Hagan would need to be a better finisher than he has shown so far to make it at Senior intercounty also. Jacko, Higgins, and Banville will definitely be involved, as will Niall Murphy, Joe O'Connor, Conor Hearne and Tucker Kinsella. Not sure about Carley yet. There will be lads involved in the trials who will no doubt put their hand up also when the trials start. Hopefully some of the Gorey contingent will commit whenever their club campaign concludes. Really want to see likes of Tucker Kinsella , Corey Byrne Dunbar and Cian Byrne push on this year. Think Byrne Dunbar will have a good year myself. Tucker needs to get a bit more aggressive, and Cian needs to calm down a bit! All 3 need to do the work with the sprint coach once or twice every week while they are in the gym also. 20 minutes at the beginning of any training they are doing. Mikey Kelly and a few others also. Explosive speed, the first 15 or 20 yards, is so important in the modern game along with size.
