Tough one. But isn't it great for our young lads to be getting to play these teams in championship games. It will bring them on far more than challenge games against weaker counties. And at that age its all on the day, you never know what may happen.

It's brilliant. There's only 8 teams (provincial finalists) in the Tier 1, 10 in Tier 2 and rest in Tier 3. After beating Monaghan Wexford in top 16 teams in country now at minor level. Great experience for these lads

Apparently that's because of how the match was fixed for Saturday, but several of the Wexford squad are away with Gorey Community School on a trip to the US, and won't be back until Sunday.

It seems Tyrone agreed to switch the day of the match on condition that Wexford travelled all the way up to them, instead of it being somewhere neutral.

Yes, I heard that. Its a pity the schedule didn't really suit the lads, a trip like that wouldn't be great preparation for any match, never mind having to go to Tyrone.

Hard luck to the footballers. We kicked too many wides and our vulnerability to goals is still an issue.

Weird game, played some very good possession football but shooting was terrible, especially in the 1st half.
Conceding goals has been an issue all year and was again today. After the 1st 20 minutes Tip were being outplayed but were 3 points up, but the last goal was a disaster, after the boys had battled back so we'll in second half.

Very poor result, would have to imagine some of them players are burnt out, it seemed to be the same team starting constantly without any changes. No team in the country could afford to do that, they've been playing games since January.

4 loses in a row. Again a poor defence who leak far too many goals.
There is a real need for a top defensive coach.
Looks like we were complacent going into this game. Sloppy passing, 13 wides, key players not
Performing, sive like defence allowing their forwards to run through our backline and easily finding the net,.
Surely Brosnan should have been brought on.
He may not have 70 minutes in him but as an impact sub could have saved the day.
Now we'll be idle for 8 months.
It could and should have been so different but they only have themselves to blame.

In fairness they don't have the players and that the truth. So ya can't blame the management. They went all out to win the league and peaked around the end of it.

Definitely too open defensively. Conceded 18 goals across 12 meaningful games in league and championship. A lot of them are carbon copies of the game before which is most worrying. Seem to ship a lot of scores from the opposition's backs too (5 of Sligo's six scored that day and Tipp's centre-back scored a goal today too). A lot of our marquee names' best attribute is carrying the ball forward with intent. We lack a dog that loves to just defend.

On a positive note though, Sean Nolan was outstanding all year. Can't beat a two-footed scorer.

Disappointing result but it probably sums up the year, an inability to get a result in a close game, happened time and again. Wexford's scoring difference in TC is better than any of the third placed teams yet we finished bottom with zero points. Hegarty has improved them a lot this year, better than bare results, hopefully they stick with it and get promoted next year.

The dogs in the street know that there is a major problem with our defence. Time and time again we leak goals. Even some of the weaker teams in our divison are able to prise us open. Management must be aware of this ongoing problem and surely it must be addressed. As one poster said, I think it was beano, that we need a dog to bolster our defence. He must stay back at all times and stick to his man like glue. We badly need a defence coach who can shape it into a solid unit. If we could achieve the above we would most definitely be on the right track. Failure to change our defensive structure and we will always struggle.
Not easy I know but it must be worked on.
It must be frustrating for the forwards to be scoring well in most games only to see soft goals been scored by the opposition.

We hit a heap of wides Saturday that was a big part of the losing of the game. We have half backs who are good going forwards but dislike contact and doing the dirty defensive stuff. We are probably still a little too nice all over the pitch.
We were badly missing a reliable 45 taker all year too. Every other county has one. Brooks was a big loss. Foley is only young but a more dominant keeper mightve kept one of the goals out Saturday afternoon too. I'm sure he learnt alot from the game.
Overall looking back over the whole season, or even the last 2 seasons, our footballers are on the right track, and largely improving month on month. Hegarty has them in good shape, and playing a good brand of exciting football. I do think we peaked for the end of the League though this year, which I hope we do again next year also. Division 4 will be another dogfight, but hopefully we get the rub of the green next year, with luck and decisions, that we didn't get this year.
