Good win for the footballers seem to have responded well after being robbed in Leitrim. Anyone at the game we must be a bit more organised at the back limiting them to 7 points

Carlow were poor enough. It was a very cagey game for the 1st 3 quarters. We kicked a huge amount of wides in the 1st half especially but the ball was like a bar of soap it was freezing cold and wet too. We outlasted them well though and took our chances well when they tired and started making mistakes.

Longford not London. 4 teams on 6 points then

We are still in with a good shout, we will go up if we win our last 2, once Leitrim drop points, or if they don't once Carlow don't either and we better Leitrims score difference .

Yes Viking we are in with a great chance of promotion now. Wasn't in Carlow last night but listened in on SER.
The manner in which we won was fantastic.
It didn't look too promising in the first half and in the 3rd quarter but we really turned the screw in the final 15 minutes.
Hopefully we can win our last 2 games and secure promotion.
However problems still exist.
1--- wide count is very high.
2---- we have a problem scoring goals.
3---- we are very slow in the first half in all our games so far.
I'm sure management are fully aware of all the above so there will hopefully be an improvement in our next games.
Happy overall with results to date and maybe we can finally get out of the basement division. Here's hoping.

We created a good few goal chances in the last 2 games in fairness. Need to work on execution though.

Have been looking back at results and scorers from our League matches so far. In some ways, this kind of thing doesn't really mean anything, and in other ways, it's interesting (to a bit of a nerd like me anyway!) -

- We've scored 4-69 in our five matches so far. Of that, 4-57 has come from play.
- Just nine points from frees so far. Two from 45s, and one from a mark.
- At least nine different scorers every day (nine v London, Laois & Leitrim; ten v Waterford; and eleven v Carlow).

We have badly missed Brooks for the longer frees

that can be looked at 2 ways, its great to have so many lads scoring each day OR it shows the lack of a really good scoring forward who gets 0.3/ 1.2/2.0/0.4 from play a day

Hard to get a read on Tipp for the next game, they gave Laois their toughest game of the campaign, think they missed a late penalty to win the game but also the only team to drop points against London and Waterford, all there games so far have been decided by 2 points or less, I'd imagine it will be moved from Thurles to another Tipp venue if the pitch isn't ready for hurling this weekend, seen highlights of Tipp/Westmeath on TG4 last week in hurling and the pitch looked in poor condition

Have been doing some "what if?" scenarios looking at the League table, and let's just say it's complicated.

Most positive conclusion from everything I've teased out is that if Laois beat Leitrim in Round 6, and we win our final two games, then we'll be promoted.

However, if Leitrim spring a surprise and beat Laois, then there are two ways we could finish on 10 points but miss out on promotion. First is if just Wexford and Leitrim finish on 10 points, as they have the head-to-head over us. Second is that Carlow could also finish on 10 points, so there'd be a three-way tie, and we could lose out that way.

On the other hand, there's a way we could even lose to Tipp, and still be promoted!

Would involve beating Longford in the final game, and other results going a certain way (none of which are extremely unlikely - i.e. Laois beat Leitrim & Longford beat Carlow in Round 6, then Round 7 sees Leitrim beat Tipp, Carlow beat London, and Wexford beating Longford). That would leave four teams level on 8 points, so it would all go to points difference.

Anyway, back to scenario 1 - let's just hope Laois beat Leitrim, and our lads win their last two games. Then we won't have to worry about any "what if" at all. :)

Longford are the only team apart from Laois who still have it in their own hands. If they win their last 2 they go up regardless of other results.

@Viking - you've obviously been playing this game too!

Yeah, that's another "what if" that I looked at. If Longford win their last two, then they stop both Carlow and Wexford from having a chance of finishing on 10 points. And even if Leitrim do beat Laois and finish on 10 points themselves, Longford have the head-to-head over them.

Strong chance our final round match v Longford could be a real promotion play-off.

Sat night was very nervy missed a lot of chances in first half but the last 20 was very good, conceding 7 points while playing with no sweeper is a testiment to the full back line they were very good, porter didnt give foley a sniff, lyons struggled on dunphy early but sheehan put the shackles on dunphy when moved onto him, away to tipp in 2 weeks confidence will be good hopefully can pick up another win and get a big crowd to wex park for Longford match

i think lyones is wasted corner back, shame we have to play him there, last years 2 corner backs missing, he is a fine footballer
