There was stuff running in the background at the time from memory, the club had a quick turnaround of managers, they found none of the appointments could fill one of fergies shoes let alone two, they sacked Moyes and that cost them 5 Million, omg, Ten Hag then comes along and tells Ronaldo his body is not in good shape, do something about it, he should take a look at some of his own failings.

Old red nose (Ferguson) stuck his ore in as usual and insisted on Ronaldo resigning for Utd instead of the rumoured move to City and the rest is history… His huge ego destroyed his 2nd stint there and along with Pogba were poison in the dressing room.. The club couldn't wait to get rid of both…!

I thought he was right to call out seriously falling standards in the club. It was the exact same as Roy Keane who was also right. If they took him seriously they wouldn't have had their worst premier League finish ever. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3116 - 12/06/2024 13:46:45 2551011 Link 0 |
There definitely was an old poster that used to insist on calling Ferguson "whiskey nose" right? Think they were from Cavan too Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12185 - 12/06/2024 14:38:46 2551021 Link 0 |
A awful lot of people call him "old whiskey nose" but no matter what he was called he made a bad judgment by getting Ronaldo back to the club…..Ten Hag had no choice but to dump him…!

I know a lot of people do, they're all the same type of character though

Monumental disaster if Casement Park does not host Euro soccer. Everybody was for moving forward except? Can we say Unionist veto? I honestly don't know. London-Dublin (Strand 3 of the 1998 Agreement) should move it forward. Fed up of the un-democratic nature of this whole fiasco. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1706 - 12/06/2024 19:26:15 2551076 Link 1 |
If Casement is not available - how about Páirc Ui Chaoimh?

I would appear to me that serious errors of judgment were made at the Man U board / business meetings with fergie possibly chairing them. The Ronaldo that signed up for his first spell at Man. U is the very same Ronaldo that also signed up for his second spell, Ronaldo didn't change but apparently circumstances at the club did.

playing in saudi retirement league and scoring a few goals against a poor Irish team is nothing to write home about. At his peak he stood out in the champions league hes well past that peak now and no Premier league would look for his services now.

He was only about 10 years older and couldn't or wouldn't run… he along with Pogba (another signing mistake) caused havoc in the dressing room.. so I don't think he was the same player at all….

sure, it could be in any big provincial venue but Antrim needs it the most. But it's dead in the water.

Because pairc ui chaoimh isnt good enough of a stadium. Would need good bit of work to put in seats everywhere and necessary changes to host games and would it be worth doing that for short term nature of the tournament

Agreed. All seaters are not the same as stadiums with terraces. The best atmosphere is always the terrace. The only reason terraces went out of fashion in soccer is because English soccer made a mess of it. Even most European countries are going back to safe standing because mass seating killed atmosphere.
