Replying To HB245:  "Built a career off coming on the loop? He's probably the best player I've ever seen to win a dirty ball for us. Everything sticks. This was always his most underrated attribute. Obviously he was brilliant at coming on the loop, though you're right there.

Darren Hughes is supposedly coming back also. Neither man owes anybody anything and at this point in their career, they are there solely for their presence in the dressing room. I've no problem with either coming back.

If Manzy/Darren Hughes are good enough to get playing time, it says more about the quality of players we have coming through if they can't take a jersey off these lads at their respective ages"
listening to tommy freeman on the farney pod and he was saying that he was disappointed he never got called back into the squad after quitting and the fact of the matter was that his services werent required - such was the squality we had back then. The same man would nearly get a jersey on todays team

Replying To Clubman57:  "I think it's very easy to laugh at the junior level players, these players a certainly worth a trial run surely!!! New management should spread his catch net as far as possible to get the team back to division 1? Surely there are loads of talented players in the intermidiate ranks too, I wouldn't think you had to play senior level to be on a county panel??"
Exactly, it doesn't make any sense to discount two thirds of our clubs...plenty of guys like Fintan Kelly had long careers and played the majority of it at junior level for their club.

When you see the competence of some of our refs as it is within Monaghan, I genuinely don't know how these same refs will adapt to trying to implement and manage these new changes… all this whilst we're in the middle of a crisis with trying to get new refs on board as it is….

One of the greatest ever players to put on a Monaghan Jersey "Ciaran Murray" was from Clones, Generally a Intermediate\Junior team.

I would say that the standard of referring within the county is fairly good, we have 5 refs at on the national refs panel. the age profile of refs in monaghan should suggest that these guys should be able to adapt to the new rules.
Biggest issue is the majority of players and coaches are not familiar with the rules. its going to be a cultural change required.
