It wasn't that long ago he left the role about 5-6 years ago

Replying To Ahref70:  "Loafofbread has setup a good insight into championship top scorers. Good to see who is on form week to week, and it could create competition to be top at the at the end of the season. Maybe a golden boot type of award could happen"
Its a great insight but I did notice some of the goal scorers for a team were wrong.

Replying To Claretandblue:  "Buddah has limited coaching experience at adult level? Seriously? He trained Tyrrellspass seniors 10-12 years ago. He's coached Castletown seniors last 4/5 years. He was approached to interview for hurling job but declined as his club going for two in a row and he's a staunch club man. He has huge experience as a former player involved on good and bad days, still playing so knows the scene. The people promoting Jason Sherlock must know something I don't. He has never managed any team"
Jayo has openly said he has no interest managing in inter county, he would be a brilliant appointment as coach

A Manager and coaching tickets are very different than 10-15 years ago. Nowadays the manager does about 20% of the training and really works on managing the overall run of the team, if thats 1 to 1 or as a whole. They obviously need to know a lot about football, a lot of managers at club level do 50-80% of the trainings in comparison to county level where you will have 2 coaches and probably a goalkeeping coach aswell, at the bigger countys, you will have defence, attack, set plays, skills coaches, S&C, Nutrition and someone who just does warm ups. From last years sources Mccabe tends to do a little bit more than the 20% but still Scullion and Mchugh done most of the training and preparing the team. I think the county have to go for it now with someone big like they did with Paidi and can get lads like Alan Mangan involved in the set up. Someone like James Horan, Eamonn Fitzmaurice, Brain Dooher, Enda Mcginley.

We will wait until all the other counties have fulfilled their vacancies, then we will deal with the scraps that are left over.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not but I'd say that is exactly what will happen.

I think McCabe did a fantastic job given the circumstances with the exodus of players and it's a shame he's going but I get it from his side. I get the feeling McHugh was very important last year so he will be a big loss.

Personally would love to see a 'big name' from outside just to change it up from the previous years (Dessie and Jack) with a local background team but understand it's easier said than done.

An outsider is immediately going to be more costly so understandable if county board sway away from that. Also feel a big name outsider would give us a better chance of enticing those lads who are 50/50 on committing. We need everyone available to get back to div 2.

I also think next year , you will see a trend of lads from different counties who have recently retired going back playing cause the new rules have given the game a new lease of life. Not saying our recent retirees should or will go back.

Crazy refereeing tonight in Miltown. Ballynacargy better team albeit almost threw it away. Bal awarded 2 points for a 45 and a blatant bun point at the death waved wide. Bal win by 2 but should have been a draw.
