Replying To Fionn:  "That is a nonsense post in fairness...

Dublin beat Kerry in 4 of the 9 finals, not to mention the semi final encounters.
We also beat Tyrone in a final.

So it was NOT a case of us just having to beat Mayo in a Final.

We started the run by beating Kerry in a final in 2011, started and finished the 5 in a Row by beating Kerry in those finals also, and then beat a much fancied Kerry team in 2023.

Dont fall into the ways of your fellow posters on here... Stay real dude....!"
I mean from 2015 to 2018, Kerry had a weak panel. '17 and '18 in particular. Kerry lucky to win in '14 really. '19 was a very young team.

The only real challenger to Dublin was Mayo who haven't won since 1951.

All the traditional counties were weak in that period.

Now there's much more competition.

I'm not trying to diminish their achievements but they were lucky with the timing.

Kerry football goes in cycles like every other county.

4 strong Ulster teams right now. Down improving. Mayo and Galway good. Mayo almost drew with Donegal. Galway have been in 2 AI finals.

3 even teams in Leinster.

Cork almost beat Kerry.

So there's not much between the top 8 or 9 counties.

But you have to be good team to win"
It's one clown of a 'Dub', he doesn't even live there anymore and is just on here to troll.

Kerry beat the top 3 of Ulster and beat them all well.
They didnt even have to hit top gear.
Timed their run perfectly and nearly all their players had returned from injury in time for the final.
Their plan and timing worked.

Dont be doing what a lot of their fans do - undermine our All Ireland victories because of the opposition each year....!
(You only have to look at a recent nonsense post from one of them on this thread from a few days ago about Mayo being perennial losers).
Give credit where is is due.

They were the best team this year, end of.
As were we, for nearly a full decade.

Speaking of which, DF should have won more than he did with us imo.
Our new manager will be taking over a shadow of the team DF had to work with.
A much more difficult assignment, and our expectations need to be set accordingly."
Ah fair enough Fionn.I hold my hands up here.I was just wound up by another contributor. I actually do respect Kerry and I often go to games with one of my best buddies who is a Kerryman.Tbf I always found their fans sound and always shake your hands after game.I go to Kerry every year with my buddy and they actually like the Dubs down there although they hate losing to us. i love young Clifford and he is probably the best player Ive ever seen. I had the pleasure of meeting him too while on holiday in the KIingdom and he is a real sound lad. Kerry deserved to win the All Ireland and I was actually cheering for them but I just dont think they are as unbeatable as many say. Sure before the final most of the pundits were picking Donegal and now after beating Donegal they are unbeatable. They have the Cliffords O connor and O shea and White but the rest while good players are no better than most other players. I just think that if we get our house in order I think we have a great chance next year. Im really looking forward to the league game under lights in croker and who knows maybe a certain midfielder might make an appearance.

All joking aside though, I don't think that Kerry team are as good as they were made look towards the later stages of the champo. I think the new rules skewed everything, some got to grips with it better and quicker than others, we were a total disaster with them. I also agree we should have beaten Armagh.

Paul Flynn said back in June that he thought D'Arcy was the man for the Job, and referred to him as a "phenomenal operator." That's good enough for me!

I think he'll really freshen things up and get to grips with the new rules a lot better, and as Fionn says he might be able to entice back one or two big names.

So if all can come together I don't think we'll be too far off next year!

The very best of luck to Ger Brennan in his new job as Dublin manager. A gentleman.

Mmmm, not so sure about this tbh.

Things aligned for Ger in that Leinster Final but Meath are the better team, as the rest of the championship showed.
I thought the Louth performances for the rest of the championship were not great at all.

Wonder will JC and SC be involved in his backroom team, as they were lined up with DD.

Interesting few conversations ahead I would think.

I think the backroom team will be even more crucial under Brennan than D'Arcy, thatll be interesting to see. At least he has the direct line to Gilroy! I wonder!

I'd agree that Meath are a better team than Louth but it was an achievement by Brennan and Louth to beat a better team(and deservedly so).in the Leinster final, a game that was always going to be the high point of the season for both teams.
In your previous post you mention a massive u-turn by the County board but do we know for sure that the speculation regarding Darcy was anything other than speculation.
It was also speculated that Brennan was out of the running because he was taking up an appointment with DCU?

Louth were poor under Ger Brennan. Lucky on the day against Meath in the Leinster Final and well beaten in their matches after that. Would Darcy with his rugby experience not have been a better bet for Dublin.
