Replying To westmeathgaa11: "There is definitely far better non county hurlers in senior clubs who weren't involved in this today who are surely more worthy of a "Westmeath senior hurling trial" Castletown: Obviously involved in senior Raharney: Darren Finn,Devin Hill, David Hickey Clonkill: Ciaran Nolan, Matthew Glynn LL: Daire Daly, Dan Higgins, Dan Reilly, Philly Reilly, Jason Malone, Marcus & Aaron Kennedy Pollard: John McCarthy, Joe Rabbit, Darragh o Reilly, Sean Lancaster Daltons: No players involved at all it seems??
I see lots of players who don't start for their clubs. Brian Gilchrist & Conor Sheridan don't start for pollard Seb McPherson & Enda Newman don't start for delvin. Sean Jackson doesn't get played for Castletown which is why he isn't involved with Leinster campaign Dan Connaughton doesnt start for Cullion Eoin English doesn't always start for pollard Robbie Cleary was taken off after 20 minutes in senior semi final

On st martins i just inclined to not see them beating na fianna, mainly so in that the wexford champs just havent had a good campaign in recent years, i always thought martins had great potential about 5 years ago but it didnt happen for them, maybe as you say they will do it this year. its just na fianna and kilcormac are developing into a type of superclub at this moment in time. on CTG i was watching a podcast on youtube the other day and the lack of credit that they got for beating thomastown was ridiculous, saying they were always a team beaten from pillar to post in leinster, i wonder do any of these analysts on youtube know anything, i remember a few years ago ctg gave kk a good game and i was at the mlr game in 2013 when they were unlucky to lose and mlr got to an all ireland after."
Most of those "analysts", in particular journalists, cone across as not watching many games at all. TV pundits also who don't know the names of lads playing intercounty for years, etc etc. There's no reason CTG can't win Leinster.

Go on any forum and you'd see that about the level of disrespect given to CTG. I can guarantee that they are pig sick down in KK over Thomastown losing last week. They thought they only had to show up and they'd win. The lazy punditry stems from a groupthink ideology, sure it's a team from Westmeath honest hurlers but not good enough. Well they were proven wrong and they only reason they're shocked is because of the quality of hurling CTG put on because they didn't do their research. I knew after watching the KK semifinal against o loughlins and bennetsbridge which was shocking (handling and decision making), that CTG would cause problems and probably beat Thomastown. As I posted earlier 1-27 in any county final was no laughing matter. If a team from Galway,Cork,Tipp or limerick had dismantled Thomastown in the same fashion the media would be falling over themselves signing their praises. Good club teams can come out of any county and that's the beauty of hurling. They'll never doubt Westmeath hurling again after last Sundays performance. Now let them back it up against kilcormac.

Talking to a westmeath man who was at both kilkenny and westmeath county finals before CTG played thomastown and he reckoned CTG had a great chance the Kilkenny final very poor standard by all accounts. CTG have a great chance if they can keep the discipline and not give screeny easy frees to tap over. AAron glennon surely worth a look with bulfin this year has been a rock at full back. Morgan gavingan also deserves a look in has been excellent man marker as other posters already mentioned.
