Replying To Claretandblue:  "Two very different games, master stroke by Brownstown management to place Brian Guerin at 14, he's got pace, wins possession well, scoring five goals in an adult championship final is probably a piece of history, Brownstown have been very good all year and won championship and Div 3 of the league. Senior B was a fantastic match, two sides hurled superbly especially in first half, conditions deteriorated in second half but excitement level didn't, Dalton's scored last three points to win, felt for Darragh Clinton who has been tremendous all year for Delvin but missed a late free to level it."
5 goals is some going in fairness. Didn't realise he played hurling. Brownstown and Mullingar Shamrocks is an odd mix for a duel player.

Replying To TheGaaMan77:  "In stifled as to why it was called off because I didn't think todays weather was no worst than what it was for the 2022 football final …. Gaels hard done by today but county board made a boo boo by not having intermediate and junior football the day before first senior game …imo no team should have to play a county final outside county grounds but fair pay to the st lomans club for stepping forward and scripting it tomorrow …. Gaels are within there right to fell hard done by"
Totally disagree there is no comparison between football and hurling.Everyone at the ground could see during the minor game that it should have been abandoned not to mind the senior. The question arises again why the hurling championship starts before the football,Has a round less but finishes after the football. Why?

If it was any other two clubs in the minor, that game would have been refixed.

Shows very poor planning by county board.
Two hurling finals played on Saturday where the intermediate final almost gets in the way of the senior

Every hurling final on one weekend and the junior probably in January 2025 at the rate league games are being played off

Horrendous planning coming back to bite our county board, have already seen quotes that they don't control the skies, but they do control the fixture planning, should never have been a 3 week gap between semi and finals.
Will expect that there are Players who will now be out of substantial pocket for travels etc.
As mentioned above, serious knock on for the junior where I believe there are still 4 groups games to be played as well as knockout.
Also I'd imagine the u20 will also suffer, u20 football was due to be this weekend coming with hurling the following, they will all have to push out, perhaps the u20 hurling semis won't be played until after the 1st round of Leinster championship

I'd be surprised if he is not on the football team next year. A very good addition to the country!

Final refixed for this Saturday at 2pm but still no confirmation on if it will be free entry as the rumours were suggesting. Elsewhere former manager Shane O'Brien and Fergal Lynch of Clare confirmed as coaches with Saoirse Bulfin for the new season, good appointments.
Wednesday week CBS Mullingar take on CBS Kilkenny in the Leinster junior 'A' semi final in Mullingar. First appearance by a Westmeath school at this level in the last 4 of the competition and they have beaten Colaiste Eoin of Dublin and Enniscorthy of Wexford comprehensively to get there. Talented side managed by Adrian Moran. Best of luck to them.

I see where gaels management stated that the minor final should have been moved, for me even as a Castletown supporter that's a shocking statement, the minor is more important in my eyes than the senior, them young lads are the future of Westmeath and some may have never gotten the chance to perform at Cusack park and spent a lot of their childhood dreaming of doing just so. The total blame lies on the county board with atrocious planning capabilities. Adult hurlers get plenty of chances to play in Cusack park where as underage don't, we need to promote these big occasions to hold onto our youth, on the game, the Gaels we're for hungrier and willing to win the dirty ball, I'd say Alan Mangan was quietly delighted that the game was abandoned, very hard to call the replay with the eventual winners winning by no more than a point or 2. Castletown are a better balanced team but I never realised how hard the Gaels can actually work.

So you preference would be that the senior final gets abandoned after 13 mins or postponed at the 11th hour as opposed to the minor final switching venue?

As if the minor hurlers of clonkill and raharney have never played before or never will get to play in Cusack park is laughable.
The minor could have been moved to bank holiday Monday and nobody would have complained

Hope Tomorrow is a good advertisement for hurling in the county, dry day and hopefully dried out pitch, most hurling people outside of Castletown wouldn't begrudge Gaels doing it, but surely Castletown will just have too many options up front.

Think the Gaels get it done today by 1. Nothing against Castletown but would be delighted for LLG if they get over the line
