First game on Sunday was a fairly drab affair. Seen joes doing their warm up and it looked as though they would be struggling to field a team at all. Whereas Eire Og had a huge squad and seemed very prepared for it. The game however was completely the other way around. In truth the two goals kept some respectability to the scoreline which couldve been a lot worse for eire og had joes had their shooting boots on. Any update on London Inter county teams? Are they allowed play in the League and championship for 2022? Is Maher staying on with Footballers and McMullan with Hurlers? LondainGael (UK) - Posts: 24 - 26/11/2021 11:39:10 2390881 Link 0 |

I see St Kiernans were beaten by Tourlestrane, how would they have compared with previous London champions? TheBishop (Galway) - Posts: 287 - 02/12/2021 12:24:09 2391411 Link 0 |
League fixtures are out. What are the key dates? Any idea on the panels this year? WestLondonGael (UK) - Posts: 10 - 21/12/2021 15:44:01 2393416 Link 0 |
Hopefully the Covid situation doesn't disrupt the London panels too much. fancyaride (Mayo) - Posts: 182 - 22/12/2021 10:40:46 2393463 Link 0 |
I'm not surprised if that is the case. Waterford refused to play in Antrim last year so it's difficult to see teams willing to travel to London for league games in the next 6 to 8 weeks. There is obviously tests etc required to travel into Ireland and I predict if London want to fulfil their league fixtures they'll likely all have to be played in Ireland; a big committment week after week. The Waterford situation last year was strange but likely gives an insight into the thoughts of teams travelling over to London so that may be a reason why players are reluctant to play with London at the minute. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 22/12/2021 11:26:44 2393471 Link 0 |
Agree it will be very difficult after such a long gap. Could London look to be involved in the FBD league in Connacht moving forward? It would be another game under their belts before league campaign. Logistically may not be feasible however. LondainGael (UK) - Posts: 24 - 06/01/2022 12:15:55 2393791 Link 0 |
Also anyone heard anything on the story that JRL have funded Oisin Mullans stay with Mayo rather than allowing him to go to Oz. Jaybloggs (UK) - Posts: 37 - 11/01/2022 10:22:45 2394493 Link 0 |
London were previously in the FBD, only about 5/6 years ago but was very very costly

The Co. Board should look at other ways at becoming more competitive. Post 17 is an issue in London. Would an Under 20 competition help raise the standard, with amalgamations of clubs with fewer numbers? I see the Junior squad is now being used for homegrown players which is a step forward but would it not be better to have this for Under 23/24s only?

London GAA is non-existent unless you are Irish and have an interest in Gaelic football.

Mayo man himself the fella who owns JRL. He's been fairly involved on the London GAA scene over the years.

'Exiles FBD participation gets green light London will take part in the 2012 Connacht FBD league after all. Participation in the early-season subsidiary competition will set the Exiles back somewhere in the region of £16,000 but manager Paul Coggins was determined to push on regardless and his wishes were unanimously backed at Monday night's County Board meeting. Connacht Council has arranged for London to play their games in such a way that they will only have to come over to Ireland twice - playing two games in Sligo one weekend and two games in Galway another weekend.' Found this online from 2012 alright. This was when all the universities were still involved so more costly than it would be now. 2013 was the year London got to a connacht final so it must have had a positive impact. Cant understand why they wouldnt push for this again. And money should not be an object, huge fundraising/sponsorship opportunties in London LondainGael (UK) - Posts: 24 - 12/01/2022 15:56:08 2394648 Link 0 |
How are the London senior footballers shaping up for the league campaign? Any new footballers? summerof09 (Meath) - Posts: 323 - 26/01/2022 07:59:17 2396486 Link 0 |
I would think its much the same as 2020 panel, not too many new footballers in town. Cahir Healy id imagine would be out with them that would be a new addition. Not sure of anyone else new though

Any sort of announcements of the playing panels for the national league from London GAA or do we have to rely on individual club Twitter feeds to inform us of each of their representatives? fancyaride (Mayo) - Posts: 182 - 28/01/2022 17:05:48 2396874 Link 1 |

Young McCormick from Termon (Donegal) on the London panel I hear. He's a very lively forward. He always impressed me anytime I saw him in action with his club or Donegal underage. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9518 - 28/01/2022 21:22:08 2396913 Link 0 |
