Wee had the absolute pleasure of having ger brennan as a manager these past 2 years. Many thought with mickey leaving there would be a couple of hard years for louth gaa but no. From that first day in Armagh losing by only a point through to donegal in ballybofey. Ger has certainly given louth supporters days wee will never forget. Beat Meath 3 times in 2 years almost making it the norm it's what wee do. Beating Cork and getting into our first ever quarter final. And obviously ending 68 years of provincial hurt. All the best to him for the future. Lúla571210 (Louth) - Posts: 134 - 01/07/2025 18:05:35 2622965 Link 0 |

It's been on the cards since before the Leinster Final, so I reckon the next Louth manager is already decided just like Dublins. Best of Luck to Ger and Oisin ninjasmyth (Louth) - Posts: 754 - 04/07/2025 00:52:05 2623534 Link 0 |

Thanks to Ger Brennan for everything. In his two years with Louth he achieved the following: 1) A first Leinster title for the Wee County in 68 years. 2) A first All Ireland quarter-final ever for Louth. 3) Louth won a semi-final for the first time ever outside of Dublin and Louth when they beat Kildare in Tullamore. 4) A first Championship win over Cork since 1957. Louth lost the previous three meetings to the Rebels. 5) Back to back Championship wins against Kildare. This was last done in the 1990s. (1991 and 1995). 6) Beating Meath for the first time in the Championship since 1975 after 49 years. They followed this up by beating the Royals again this year to win an historic Leinster Championship. They win back to back Championship wins against Meath for the first time since 1917/1918. 7) In his two years in the league he won last day battles against Kildare and Meath to stay up which means Louth will stay a fourth year in Division 2. This was last achieved in the 1990s. 8) Louth recieve a record 4 all star nominations and win only a second all star in their history as Craig Lennon wins an all star and joins the great Paddy Keenan in the hall of fame. 9) With Louth beating both Meath and Cork at Inniskeen it's Louths first Championship wins in Ulster since beating Monaghan in Clones in the qualifiers in 2002. 10) Ger Brennan makes history himself by becoming only the eight man to win a Leinster title as a player and manager and he becomes the first to do with two different counties. Applications open for the managers gig, any gossip so far on who will stick their names forward ? louthman57 (Louth) - Posts: 317 - 08/07/2025 14:20:13 2624389 Link 0 |
And without playing terribly well particularly this season imo where we maintained league status by the skin of our teeth and subsequently stuttering over the line in ultimately claiming Leinster, you could say it was inevitable what followed thereafter at the AI series. The big question now is that can we kick on as in remain competitive at least in the province and who will be the best option in doing so because this is as big a job now as it is for Ger taken over the Dubs.

Yeah very true Francie when you look at the Leinster final Meath were 4 points up going into half time and Craig Lennon scored a goal out of nowhere. Meath did not score for 15 minutes till Costello scored a goal to take the lead. Only for a two pointer by Sam Mulroy and a point at the end by Craig Lennon to save Louth.

All 3 are good choices, but is Devlin not an employee of Louth GAA?
