Ballon beat Clonmore by 10 points?

A team coming up from Junior hammering a side just down from Senior.

Could somebody explain that?

Ballon are a very good side. I actually forgot to mention them in my earlier post. They have loads of young players. They have a good set up. Clonmore are missing several key players and I believe from what I'm hearing will struggle to stay up

No I disagree. Fenagh haven't even been training. I just think we over estimated tinryland.

Shows the benefit of playing competitive games, albeit hurling matches. Fenagh had a half dozen dual players whereas Tinryland had one. They looked completely undercooked and weren't in it for the 1st 15 minutes. Also their kicks out were disastrous. Fair play to Fenagh tho they were full value for their win.Themselves and Bagenalstown could be a sparky affair now as a Fenagh win will put Bagenalstown in big trouble.

I can't anyway. I thought Clonmore would win that by about 10 as Ballon were poor enough junior champions last year and I thought Clonmore were good enough to stay up in senior and had no luck in any game when they ran a big guns very close.

I wouldn't have thought ballon have huge scope for improvement so it must be that Clonmore have regressed badly but I don't the scene there really or what's gone on.

I'd say the long gap between league and championship has been difficult for Tinryland

I thought bagrnalstown were terrible the other night. They were in it with a squeak at half time but disastrous second half. I'd put a lot of it down to the obvious lack of preparation and it raises the split season issue again. Good for hurling bad for football.

The Bagenalstown kick outs were a disaster they kept going high and long out into the middle where pal's big men just were able to catch everything easily against small town fellas and yet they persisted and persisted with the same restart only once did did they change it going short about 5 mins from the end. Paddy McDonnell had got into great positions several times but they never looked for him. Clear they've done very very little preparation and they'll be relegated if they don't get themselves sorted very quickly.

How much prep Fenagh can have done I dunno but on this weekends showing they'll beat Bagenalstown as well.

Ballon are very young and every year add several division 1 footballers to the ranks. The advantages st martins add to ballon in particular and the cocks secondly will come into fruition in the next few years. Kilbride don't do as well from that amalgamation but get enough to keep going.

So how come the split season didn't stop Fenagh from hammering Tinryland?

They had the same preparation as Bagenalstown. Almost all of them hurl with Ballinkillen.

Bagenalstown were woeful in the hurling too. Their problem is not the split season .

Fair enough I haven't been paying enough attention to their younger players coming through. Still think though that Clonmore must be better than losing by 10 to ballon.

I think there is a bit of a difference in that virtually the entire Bagenalstown team are hurlers. Fenagh only about half.

On that issue disappointing to see that St Mullins have obviously not bothered with much football since the county final loss. That was a heavy beating they took at home to Pal. Maybe they'll shake themselves now.

Blues only scoring 4 points in a hammering to FC? I know they're on a downward spiral but that is genuinely disgraceful. What is even going on in there?

Bagenalstown are honestly in some serious trouble in both codes. A town that big and can't seem to have a steady stream of lads coming through but that seems to just be a Carlow gaa issues, under age sides continually not able to produce a decent side and the drop off our clubs have from minor to adult football is incredible. EO have three adult sides, 4 in 2020 but you maybe get max five coming to play from junior b to senior. If they struggle, it's a systemic issue within the county.
