I'm not giving out about the players who have committed because it is a huge undertaking and workload, Now maybe these players were asked in and haven't committed for any reason ( Seanie Bambrick, Tadhg Roche (OL), Shane O'neill (pal), Fitzpatrick, Donagh Murphy, Evan Kealy (MLR), James Mcgrath, Conor O'toole (tinryland). Now some of these names have probably committed to the hurling panel which is brilliant. but I would love to see them on the football panel. What happened with hulton he was in with the panel did he decide to take a break?. Small counties tend to suffer from high turn over of players. It's always been that way in carlow you gain a few lose a few. Always at this time of year we look at who has not joined the squads. Unfortunately we have quite a few who have decided for whatever reason not to join the football panel. That is their decision. The hurlers on the other hand have almost all the lads who were asked in there and ready to go. Its hard to know why so many footballers decide not to go in. He might have swung it our way that day and put us in a Leinster final. Only a few years ago but we could seriously talk of a Leinster final then but again we didn't actually have everyone we needed. There's probably a half dozen on the hurling panel that would be major additions to the football squad, none more so than Chris Nolan in my opinion. Very fair didn't think of a few of these myself, if you could get them all in you'd have a good squad. Still hopeful for a reasonable league and tailteann. And yes it might have been the difference but it was still a good year. Those few years were as close as we had to a full pick as we ever had in my lifetime anyway. Still I would be hopeful that we can use these new rules to our favour this year in the league anyway. Wexford will be the team to beat I feel. A very mobile keeper they have by all accounts and I think teams that make the most of a mobile keeper will do well. I would say only Hulton of those would make 1st.15.One of those mentioned was anonymous in county final so wouldn't cut any ice at interco level imo .There are 39 players who have committed so let's back them and forget about those who didn't. Tipp, Longford and Wicklow won't be easy either, and Waterford and London have been improving lately. Haven't posted in years. Thought this was gone. Good to be back. Hoping for an exciting year of football for Carlow with a new manager and all the new rules. Got my OAP membership for the year. Super value and a great incentive for any Carlow supporter. Interesting to see we have a kerry coach Mark Foley coaching our football team this year with shane curran. Has he coached any club teams in carlow before? My source tells me he was involved with limerick and kerry underage. Bodes well for the year ahead. Best of luck to them and the team. My understanding is he was an S&C coach with Limerick senior footballers and Kerry hurlers in recent years. His background is in S&C but he's not here to be S&C coach someone else is doing that. He's here as the team's head coach with Curran as manager/motivator. He did coach North Kerry in kerry championship and also was head coach of Limerick minor footballers a year or two ago. I think he's based in Limerick so is making a fair commitment to this and best of luck to him. What he's like as a coach at senior inter county level though remains to be seen but every young coach has to start somewhere I suppose so he's taking taking a chance on us as much as we are on him I'd say. There will be less of a gap between the end of the league and the start of the championship.
