2 go down, 1 comes up and SFC reduces from 12 to 11 next year. The plan is to have 10 in senior, 8 in intermediate and 6 in junior (3 Junior clubs, 3 second teams) by the end of 2026. That's the theory, in practice it will probably depend on who gets relegated or fails to get promoted and what short-term interest they start lobbying for next Spring.

Probably not sure there hasn't been proper relegation for a long time. Might as well have a 20 team senior championship

My guess is that we will have a 12 team championship next year. If Fr. Manning Gaels surprise us and stay clear of the 2 relegation spots, then we will have 13 teams playing Senior football next year. Bookmark this now!!!

What time is the draw? I assume it's on Shannonside?

A 12 team round robin of two groups with 5 games to determine the quarter finalists. The bottom 2 in each group then go into a round robin group of 4 with the bottom 2 in that being relegated. Only in Longford!!! Mostrim and Fr Manning Gaels also handily kept apart to avoid one group being over before it starts

Well done to the County Minors on a great win on Saturday. Never a bad day when you win an all ireland title of any stripe. Management and players deserve great credit.

Good to get the win yesterday against Carlow and end the year on a positive note. Matthew Carey turning into a two pointer pro. Very poor season for Longford, no dressing it up, but have to push on and keep developing lads and trying different things. Next year expectations on management will be higher. Could really use those extra O'Byrne Cup games.

I read that Paddy Collum has retired. A fantastic keeper right to the end, some great saves yesterday too. Fair play and best of luck to him.

At least we finally got a win. Outstanding performance from Matthew. When he is on his day he is as accurate as anyone. I would like Solan to stay on and keep this rebuild going. All the best to Paddy Collum on his retirement. 130 appearances he does not owe the county a thing. That is the last of that 2010 Leinster group. With the demands of the modern era it will be unlikely we will see too many more players playing for as long

Hopefully solan stays on but the worry is that mayo will be looking for a new manager and he will be well regarded for it.

Thanks to all the players for their commitment this year. Hopefully brighter times are ahead in the future for the group. Just need to keep striving.

With all due respect to Solan who I think is doing a decent job i don't think Mayo are going to be looking at a manager who won three games all year with Longford.
