Seems to be two lads trying to make a shambles out of this forum in yourself and this self-proclaimed man from Marys." Shane and cillian are no relation. It was the corner forward joe mcgloin that is cillians brother. He was on u20 panel last year

Not to be overly concerned with County Board and Senior team matters it appears we're blooding an enthusiastic bunch of young aspirants on this very forum. Time will tell if the level of commitment proves too much….

Replying To CorkLiamMcCarthy24: "Mikey Graham to Galway" Great to see Mikey involved in coaching. Was wondering what he had been up to since Boyzone finished up. Ronan Keating was the best singer, Keith Duffy just loved the limelight but I always felt Mikey Graham was a very underrated member of the band.

I will not hold my breath

Fail on the pitch next year or walk away from a county you've no connection to?" You'd work with what you got... this ain't the premiership. That being said Mickey would have been well looked after like the lads before him.

We were blessed also to have a particularly strong team at a time Connacht football was at a pretty bad level back then. One would say we should have won 2 or maybe 3 titles with that team, and maybe have made an AI final appearance, not saying that they'd have won that of course.

No harm but Leitrim were bet out the gate in the 94 All Ireland semi final. Connacht football was poor for sure back then and the Connacht final of 1994 was one of the poorest quality games of that year. Maybe ye had another Connacht final win in ye but definitely not an All Ireland final appearance. I was very happy to see Leitrim win in 1994 and wouldn't it be great to get all teams in Connacht up to the same level. Unfortunately I can't see it happen any time soon

You're right it's not the premiership it's mere a sign of the times even down to junior club level. You'll see managers promising promotion and whatnot and will stretch the board financially to achieve it with little care, yet when they are told no they down tools and walk away. As I said, he has no connection to Leitrim so why hang on unfortunately.

You'd wonder if an experienced manager like Declan Bonner would take the job considering we're facing a tough year in Division 3 with a weakened squad. I somehow doubt we'll get him on board. From what I've heard O'Hara isn't a frontrunner (he'd be my choice closely followed by Bonner) , Niall Carew is a journey man manager and Poacher while a well regarded coach has no experience of being the manager at inter county anyway. It's going to be tough getting the management team we'll need to compete in Division 3 at this late stage with the backdrop of players not being available . Not blaming players for living their lives and travelling while they can but it's such a pity we're losing so many players at the one time especially in a higher division when we need everyone committing , this is the reality of life for counties in the lower divisions , keeping a squad together for a few years which you need to do to progress is practically impossible now.

I don't think that being in the latter stages of the championship regularly was beyond them. The semi final in 94 was a huge occasion for them their first time in croker etc. They were unfortunate they didn't get a chance to build on that.

Gary Reynolds came across extremely well on Off the Ball and highlighted how amateurish and slightly embarrassing our chairman was on Off The Ball after Mickey Graham stepped down. He also highlighted that the Leitrim job is actually a lot more attractive job then a lot of counties when you break it down. We probably are too harsh on ourselves as a small count and are getting a lot of thing right even if we are way behind on some things.
I think it has became apparent that there was a serious falling out with Andy Moran - This makes it even more ridiculous that Mickey Graham wouldn't have been aware as to what he was walking into as he was there last year, would have known the issue was with Andy Moran and would have made sure to do a background check on everything before agreeing to the role.
Plunkett and Dolan are definitely gone, and there's word that Dolan Wrynn might be retiring. Also rumours that Jack Gilheaney might be stepping away but that's not confirmed. Donal Casey is also a long term injury but should be back at some point in 2025
The reality is in a weaker county every manager knows this could be the case it is par for the course. Whats more is that Wrynn who has been an immense servant to Leitrim football was naturally going to become a squad player, Barry McNulty looks like he can replace Pearce Dolan at Midfield and the likes of Ben Guckian, Darren Cox etc. are coming to the fore and can come in for Plunkett. Radek Oberwan and Jack Foley etc. will be well able to fill in for Gilheaney. Hopefully Cillian McGloin will be back and Jack Heslin may also be back if he can recover from a tough injury.
We easily have some of the best forward options in Division Four (even more so if the new rules are introduced) but there is no doubt we are short at the back. For this reason I wouldn't rule the likes of Poacher out - he is a brilliant coach and theres no doubt he would put a emphasise on defending which we will need and Ryan Jones also knows the lay of the land with Leitrim Football - Theres also rumours that his brother may transfer to Leitrim Gales/Leitrim.
I think Dec Bonnar along with a top class coaching team is the way to go. Whoever it is needs to keep Barry McWeeney involved and be able to commit for the next 3 years minimum. The U20s can't be forgotten in all this as they are the future.

I mean imagine basically asking for Colm O'Rourke to throw his name in the hat on national radio. Christ on a bike. The next few months and weeks will say a lot about where Leitrim GAA is going with convention coming up... clubs will have to step up and put forward people to run GAA in the county. I really hope our secretary stays on and I would go as far as to say he would be make a very good Chairman. There's a good crop of lads coming off the back of the Fr Manning cup so it's vital capable people are able to replace the people who are coming to the end of their term.

As the CB is set to change post, i agree with the poster above saying our secretary would make a excellent chairman. I agree, he has the respect of the whole county. if he wanted he could hold positions in Croke Park. If we want to progress as a county this man needs to be chairman. i don't see any other stronger candidate in the county? Any one have a stab at naming 3 possible candidates?
