Fantastic 9 point win by the Roscommon minors over Mayo tonight. Playing with the wind they were 9 points up (2-3 to 0-0) after only eight minutes of play. Sam Hannon had a great first half kicking 7 points. We lost several kickouts at midfield for a while and Mayo got it back to 3 points by half time. (2-8 to 2-5).
The team played very well against the breeze in the second half and kicked another 2-7 to Mayo's 1-4 for a great 9 point win.
Might be unfair to pick out some players, but Sam Hannon, Tadgh Rogers, Christopher Feerick, Dara Curran ( Fantastic goal, but did turn over possession a few times), Cian Timble ( great interceptions from goal) were very prominent. Dean Casey made a major contribution when he came on and Shay McGuinness won some important ball around the middle in the second half. Very mature play by all the team in the second half.
Nearly guaranteed to get directly into the Connacht final.
Well done to all involved.
Best of luck to the senior team tomorrow.

Outstanding performance from the minors tonight, inspiration leadership from the captain Curran with 2 3 , the 2nd goal was extra special. Sam Hannon kicking some unbelievable points from distance, others to standout on the day were Ferrick with a great 2nd half performance. All round great performance from a team with eyes on the bigger prize. Into the all ireland Quarter Final but are looking to win Connacht. Next up for Roscommon are the winners of Mayo or Galway in the Connacht Final.

Brilliant goal by Dara Curran in the second half. Great skill by the Castlerea player. Well deserved win for Roscommon.

Unreal result. Was this a highly tipped minor team? A few lads there with all Ireland colleges medals.

Mighty stuff by the U17s got off to flyer 2-3 no score then let Mayo back into. Work rate and team play excellent 2nd half as we won by nine and that didn't flatter us.

Into the Connacht final for 2nd year in a row and hopefully we'll go one better than last year we certainly have the talent to do so and are well coached.

Already into the final with Galway Mayo playing each other and both can't finish on 6 points

Job done after a wobble 1st half against the wind. 2-26 scored,12 different scorers and winning by 19. I certainly would have taken that before the game.

Fair play, they had a job to do and they did it. You can't judge too much on that game but great to see so many pitching in with scores and hopefully brings back a bit of confidence to the team. Ben very lively. Tackling still something we need to work on though. Galway will be a completely proposition. A well earned two week break now.

Well done lads, got their teeth into it 2nd half and did the job.
Hard to concentrate on the game with the Fleadh Ól all around the place making the match a sideshow.
Now for the real thing in the wind tunnel....

Makes one wonder what idiot told the DJ to start his set midway through the 2nd half?

The wind tunnel probably won't be as windy as yesterday.
