In response to macca999 - You said "Lucky its Man City (who nobody supports) in champions league final" - Well I think you'll find Man City are now triple title winners this season with a very large following!

In response to FoolsGold - You said in response to macca999 "He rattled you're cage anyway. Not hard done" - Who asked you to poke your nose in - mind your own business as you were total last year.

In response to Kesh GFC - You said "So I think we have found our level .. drawing with Wexford and collapsing to Antrim .. i mean Antrim .. I mean carlsberg don't do collapses but if they did Antrim would be the template" - Considering you have hadn't the courtesy to apologise for your derogatory comment about Antrim you have some cheek reappearing again.

In response to Fermanagh's exit from the Tailteann Cup 2023 - How could this happen, following the team's promotional success to D2, to be booted out by a lower tier county team? It's really shameful. Heads should roll.

Alot of reactions there lol.
First macca999's judgemental soccer comment shows his lack of wisdom.
The Foolsgold comment is just childish.
KeshGFC lacks respect and I'm sure Antrim will not be as disrespectful in Fermanagh's demise. He should be hiding or withdraw his remarks if he has any manners.
Now to a game that should have seen Fermanagh progress has left many questions as to how things will pan out next year, as div two will be extremely challenging and I'm not convinced that current management is capable of delivering.

At the same time, look at our starting 15. I could name at least 6 of our starters that would not get in the likes of Cavan's team.
The management over achieved in getting promotion, and form dipped hugely after that.

I wouldnt write the whole thing off , as the league has shown with a good system in place - we are a team that will put it up to anyone in and around our level.

I agree with this to an extent, we definitely over achieved big time getting promotion this year with the squad available.

Looking at Div 3 we came out the right side of a few tight matches, the only teams we were comfortable against were Tipp & Longford who in the Tailteann Cup looked weaker than most of the Div 4 teams. Bottom line is, there is very little between your top half Div 4 teams and Div 3. I'd argue the likes of Sligo would be better than most teams in Div 3, including ourselves.

That being said, this is a Laois team who came into the contest winless from the Tailteann group games and conceded 4-15 in a single half at the hands of Dublin in Leinster, we should be beating them. Too many of our big players didn't perform on the day unfortunately. Management need to take a look at themselves here too and see where it went wrong. I do believe Donnelly deserves to finish out his contract after promotion to Division 2 but I only see relegation happening. Partly why I feel Donnelly should stay is what other better options are available for Fermanagh realistically? There was a stage 5-10 years ago Fermanagh was a very sought after job across Ireland, I fear not so much now.

I concur with other posters here, we still need the likes of Jones and Quigley next year again. We also need to make sure our best forwards are available to us from the club scene next year. Conor Love & Tiarnan Bogue a couple of players from the top of my head who could make an impact, young King fron Newtown too.

Breaking news... after Saturday's game it's emerging that some exchanges took place in the Fermanagh changing rooms. Not clear if it was just between players only or if management were part of it too. Maybe someone can enlighten us further?

Maybe that would explain why macca999 decided to write the 'obituary' of several of the team players, although I'm of the opinion he was being a bit premature in writing off those players mentioned.

i think there is enough hand-bag swinging in this forum to match what happened in changing rooms on sat. Im glad to hear there were heated exchanges in changing rooms. This should hurt them and hurt them bad.
I started the year thinking Donnelly was the man and at the end of the league I was seriously impressed with the dogged resolve he had instilled in the team
Now Im totally bewildered. We arent world beaters but we have players in squad to be seriously competitive but we jst werent. Something has clearly happened in the camp to destable the group. If you dont have absolute harmony and buy in to the greater good then we get days like we got in last month
There are also a number of players who have to take a look at their attitude. I know if I name names that the audience will pick apart my every comment and reply in bold in a forensic manner. If we all take off the green and white tinted glasses you cant but see several lads just not delivering /claiming their weekly yellow cards and worse !
You will note that I rarely if ever challenge any one poster in here. I respect you and your opinions despite how I might disagree.
I think we have now taken the number 1 spot for the team that has failed to deliver on potential more than us since the end of the league
If you hear anymore about trouble in changing rooms, please share with the group lol

Some great posts and views here, great to have open debate and opinions, which all valued and respected equally whether agree or not.

Bailah, there is no doubt that promotion from Division 3 was an overachievement for the squad, the victories against Down and Antrim were blessed, Westmeath probably best performance but even then gave them a glimmer(Westmeath have shown better form in Championship than league since). Id agree that if Fermanagh were in Division 3 next year wouldnt expect promotion.

Donnelly definitely will stay on for next season and will want to somehow try keep us in Division 2, certainly suggest though that changes to backroom team to try help fix issues of this year, defensively. Looking ahead Division 2 is going to be a huge challenge, Donegal, Meath and Kildare will all be stronger in 2024, need to get players like James McMahon, Tiarnan Bogue and Conor Love on the panel again. With way games have gone since league maybe try bring few games to Ederney too:-)

Definitely need to keep Jones and Quigley involved, hopefully playing in Division 2 might help motivate them incase having farewell thoughts.

Didnt hear that Coa Gael, though given the performance i wouldnt be surprised if got a bit heated in dressing room after as was a shocking display and very frustrating.

If true pity some of the players didnt show this spirit during the game, if had might not have lost as badly, Laois looked hungrier which isnt acceptable. Was passage of play second half were Che Cullen committed 4 times to win a break ball which showed huge hunger and desire drawing biggest cheer of the game, if only others had this attitude.
Good post Kesh GFC, agree that the positivity of the league is long gone now but was a great achievement and i would pick promotion still over reaching a Tailteann Cup semi final.

On Saturday Fermanagh kicked some poor wides and could quickly see the heads dropping, huge expectancy on few players to get the scores and when they had off days nobody else to step up. McGurns loss was felt as meant Quigley couldnt be used as impact from the bench as in league. Management speaking highly of players but that doesnt mean all is what says and interesting question attitude Kesh GFC and always feel free to share in detail, nobody here has right to pick apart or judge. Alot time to reflect and review what went wrong since league, a season that promised so much in spring has delivered so little in summer

I don't how you have the brass neck to congratulate Kesh GFC on his scandalous and derogatory comments about the players never mind his attack on the manager. How could such an outburst from the Kesh poster do anything to harmonise or bond a team when he picks out individuals from west of Lower Lough Erne and north Fermanagh as having attitudes? That poster should be ashamed to put his head above the parapet after trying to make a laugh of Antrim and the outcry thereafter about it. If this is the same poster, reported to be a walk-away manager, then many have little respect for him anyway.
As for yourself macca, your input too over the seasons hasn't done anything to encourage the players with your criticism and indeed specific attacks on the goalkeeping. These players are only human and I know read these comments which no doubt unsettling to them. I think it's time for hands of both the team and manager and allow things to settle down.

One positive of the county team finishing up is that we now will see some quality club action with county players involved.

I think Enniskillen will struggle to retain the SFC this year. Looking forward to seeing how the league develops from now on.

Yeah, I agree that Fermanagh's exit will benefit club football. Ekn Gaels weren't exceptional last year as the draw worked luckily enough for them. They have a few quality players including Horan, Cassidy, etc., which is a big bonus to any team come championship time. Derrygonnelly and Belnaleck are in with a good chance given the same reason. Not sure if Ederney or Kniawley make any impact as they seem to rely on a new influx inexperienced younger players.

Glad to see that the Teemore man (alias hillbilly) has helped to put a stop to the destructive comments by Kesh GFC as it's not helping the situation that the Fermanagh team and management find themselves in. I thought macca999, given his usually fairly sensible contributions. was foolish in his praise of what the Kesh poster said. I guess we all should think before post a comment as he may cause hurt whether intended or not. But obviously the Kesh guy did intend to annoy many especially those he targeted in his comments. Glad to see the likes hillbilly post got which suggests disapproval of that cheeky Kesh poster.

My dad, who is a former Fermanagh man, says times have changed up there when a Teemore man is playing peacemaker and that there is a GAA club in Kesh. Nothing surprises him anymore.

LOL. I had a good belly laugh when I read your comment. Tell your dad that the Teemore hillbillies haven't changed their spots nor is there a Gaelic football club at Kesh - wow be tide the day that happens to see the tricolour flying there or the bellowing out of Amhran Na Bhfiann! That Kesh GFC guy, although I'm not 100% sure, may be from around there but now apparently living too close to my own neck of the woods for comfort. By the way is your dad still a Fermanagh supporter or a Galway one?

I see my suggestion to leave out personal attacks on posters lasted about 5 seconds lol. Typical Fermanagh folk can't relax until they figure out who ya are .. who your people are … your complete lineage Lol …. Anyway for hopefully the last time I'm NOT a former manager of any county team or any club team above u20 … passionate supporter and if I see fault or favour in county setup I'll shout it out .. now youz boys can go back to congratulating each other on putting me and other Frank and honest posters down ( be we right or wrong) Slan

With the league starting today, Here are my unlikely predictions for the first round of fixtures. I'm going by what games I have seen in the pre-season league which is not normally a good gage of how the team will do in the league campaign so I will most likely get a lot wrong here/

CLG Bhriain Bhóramha, Cill Náile v CLG Naomh Pádraig, Domhnach( I would favor Dom Corrigan men in this meeting although both teams had a poor pre-season league so it will be hard to tell what way this one finishes out)

CLG Uí Chonaill, Doire Uí Loin v CLG Ghaeil Inis Ceithleann(I think the free-scoring Enniskillen will take all 2 points in this encounter, Although Derrylin defensive setup may see them through this game

CLG Naomh Iosaf, Eadarnaigh v CLG Uí Raithile, Béal Cú( This could be a tight affair going by the pre-season games results but I would favor Ederney coming out on top)

CLG Ghaeil na hEirne, Béal Leice v CLG Airt Mhic Mhurchú, Béal na Leice( I saw Bellanaleck earlier in the year, Seems like they could be one of the top contenders in this years league campaign. Looked to be very well set up as well as the addition of the two Cullens to bolster the system. I can see Bellanaleck taking all 2 points

CLG Naomh Molaise, Na Cearna v CLG Chláirseacha Dhoire Ó gConaíle(The last time these two teams played in the league there was not much between them but after hearing the harps were missing a good few panel members I can't see anything past harps win.)

Like our Irvinestown festival (sorry outside of town festival to the townies regret), Fermanagh club league footie has too become boring and needs some radical thinking to boost interest both in attendance and for the sake of players whose vision is more about championship success than the sport itself. From what I can see, many clubs have focussed too much on having grand facilities rather than on the players and this is also reflected at county level where material development gets too much focus too leaving the weakish link being in low value management resulting in both Fermanagh and club teams never achieving anything worthwhile and national success is just a pipe dream.

As far as I see once the county stuff is out of way any decent players head away and what's left is the run-of-mill players who look forward more to a rip at the weekend than the game itself. The senior club players are becoming more and more depending on young players barely out of youth footie to make up a team which I suppose is contributing to the lack of quality play expected at this level of the game.

Ok there is some decent work going on at underage development but the results in recent years has shown this not to be as productive as it should be. I'm not sure what the answers to how things should go forward in the future but one thing I know that something needs to be done soon or we'll end up with a county known just for recreational football and too much grandeur in facilities with the poor GAA folk of the county coughing up to meet the costs.

I'll finish with this question, is our county board capable of tacking the these issues or are they just a bum on a seat until their time is up?

I strongly agree with some of what you are saying.

BUT decent players heading away is about something bigger than the GAA, it is about Ireland as a whole.

Without getting too political Ireland currently is a seriously bleak place for a young adult, especially in rural Fermanagh with no jobs or opportunities.

Unless something drastic happens on a national level then the problem is only going to get worse - a county squad standard player would be mad not to go to the states to play and get paid for the summer.

I disagree on the facilities part - clubs improving their facilities will stand to the county in the long run - players will be more developed before even joining county set ups.
