you werent there but dont let that stop you objecting to my comments. Seriously, all Im doing is giving an opinion on a match. Disagree all you want if you saw a match differently, but hold on YOU WERENT THERE are you seriously saying that I believe Donnolly told them to go out and lose possession...go out there lads and miss 5 yard passes, go out there lads and miss lots of shots in the first half to fool them? If Fermanagh senior football team turn to me to take them over then there would be a lot of serious questions to be asked. Ive never managed a county team at any level and never even managed an adult team. By the way I happen to think Donnolly is setting up the team well and our shape is good. And now that several others have had their say are you not going to attack them too for having similar opinions as me KeshGFC (Fermanagh) - Posts: 339 - 07/02/2023 11:24:38 2456965 Link 0 |
With the new club season not too far away is there a list of all the current club managers? Have there been many changes around the clubs since last season? Itown1234 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 48 - 13/02/2023 10:51:53 2458028 Link 0 |
Firstly fantastic win for the hurlers yesterday against Mayo, again at the excellent facilities in Ederney. macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1142 - 13/02/2023 19:02:36 2458158 Link 0 |
Great result for Fermanagh today, there is no doubt the players seem to enjoy playing there, again club have excellent set-up and volunteers to help with parking/admission etc. macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1142 - 19/02/2023 19:14:59 2459166 Link 1 |
I think that Kieran Donnelly deserves huge credit. It's a young team. For a team that usually does not put up big scores we hit 11points in the 1st half against Longford and scored 2.14 against down. He is leaveing a few more bodies up front rather than everyman behind the ball which allows us the chance of a quick ball forward when we turn the ball over and and helps create more goal scoring opportunitys. He is making the team more attack minded, yes this may leave us more vulnerable at the back at times but in general think we will win more games than we will lose and the games as spectator more enjoyable. The amount of different scorers yesterday also makes us a harder to team to mark and majority of the scores came from open play. We also used the mark a few times to or benefit. My favourite score was 2 kicks Sean McNally kick out to mcgurn who claimed the mark and scored. Quick and direct no side passing. Both teams will be sore after that game there was some heavy hits in it. I was not expecting a win to be honest against down, but i do believe we were the better team and should have won by more. Shame we did not play any way near like that against offaly cause we would have won and somewhere in the back of their minds the players would have been thinking of promotion to division 2. But there is still plenty of games to go yet before there is talk of were we will be playing next year. Nice to see them makeing the most of home a advantage. I thought we would have had a man sent off before the end of the game, due to the number of yellow cards we had 7. The reason I think we should have won by more 2/3 goals were preventable. Garvan Jones went for goal instead of taking his point which the keeper saved and they went up and scored a goal. It was at a time when down were coming more into the game and we did not need a goal at that moment in the game. Also Sean McNally got caught outfield with the ball. I don't blame either players as they are young and will learn from this. I would like your options on this trend of modern goalkeepers joining in on open play. For me a keepers job is to prevent goals and not be creating scores. Does the rewards out weigh the risks. Seen other keepers get caught to monaghan Armagh Donegal. Bring on Antrim and hope we come home happy. ERNEDEVIL (Fermanagh) - Posts: 69 - 20/02/2023 15:08:27 2459422 Link 0 |
Great character shown by the team yesterday.. reeled in by down .. momentum with down wind itch down .:. And most would have thought our chance was gone but as agree with macca that whatever Donnelly is doing to breed unity and character and belief it's working… serious efficiency infringement of goal again and great decision making.. great shift by Mcshea and are we finally seeing mcgurn do what we all knew he was capable of .. now we were seriously open at times to fast running down forwards but hell what a finish .. young Jones will be glad of win too given he had goal at his mercy and chipped in to keepers hands and 40seconds later ball was in our net. Brief note on todays game …. despite an error strewn patchy performance where the leak of goals continues the team showed unbelievable fighting spirit and belief right up to 75th minute and reminded me of the rossie game in 2015 almost .. plenty to work on but 3 wins from 4 and seeing out two tight matches in a row confirms character . 8 down at one point … good travelling support too helped .. goal leakage must stop though KeshGFC (Fermanagh) - Posts: 339 - 25/02/2023 21:14:27 2460158 Link 0 |
Still not sure how we managed to win that game yesterday as looked beyond but what a comeback from the team! They never gave up and showed incredible character and belief for the second week in a row to win a titantic tussle. macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1142 - 26/02/2023 19:13:43 2460420 Link 1 |
Anyone know what shape Brewster park is in at the minute ? Do we want to switch to that surface after getting used to Ederney ?.. is Brewster park ready for the weekend ? KeshGFC (Fermanagh) - Posts: 339 - 28/02/2023 09:18:18 2460873 Link 0 |

Todays game was exactly what Fermanagh needed after the last two crazy games, a low key straight forward win which allowed management to give much needed game time to Che Cullen and Decky McCusker in second half. macca999 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1142 - 05/03/2023 19:28:08 2462071 Link 0 |
So your praise continues to piled on for anyone wearing B'leck boots...why does that not surprise us?...while rarely is the same level of compliments paid to the net protector...anyway enough said about your tunnel vision. I think Fermanagh has improved during this league campaign but there is a lot to worry about too if we look at the Antrim and Down games where luck saved the day rather than a a full cohesive play which was evident again at times in yesterday's game with Tipp, a team not exactly graced with talent...I hope not, but I think the next games with Westmeath and Cavan will open up Fermanagh's shortcomings...let's hope that luck will come our way in the WMH game if promotion is possible this season. Although the Brewster Pk may be ready then, the team's luck path may be still best at the Ederney venue...just a thought.

Macca reminds me of my grandpa's donkey as when things were going good eating fresh carrots he was boastous but when the feeding was sub standard he would kick back with hind legs. Similarly, Macca is all praise for Fermanagh for now but if they lose badly in the next games he will lambast players as happened last season with his over-the-top criticism of goalkeeping which caused uproar on this forum. So his dismissive, if not arrogant, response to wired2themoon was unwarranted. cillnaile. (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1006 - 08/03/2023 21:44:57 2462894 Link 5 |

Brilliant cillnaile!! I was this morning thinking when I read your post of the donkey riding his tandem to Ederney for the game on Saturday!! Anyway what I came on about is it looks like I'll have to fork out 36 euros for my Mrs, my two U16 children and myself which is a bit of a tall order given that it's not even likely that we will get seats never mind shelter if it's raining. Ok there may be limited numbers allowed because of the small facility but charging 8 euros each for a children aged 5 and 7yrs old is a bit over the top, no wonder they are called Grab All Association!!

There are 2 or 3 of us that come on and offer comments on football .. good bad or misinformed they are opinions.. seems most people choose to come on here to comment on comments… please give views on football .. don't make it personal .. I mean what's the point … as this is the Fermanagh gaa thread not the Fermanagh pundit bashing thread !! KeshGFC (Fermanagh) - Posts: 339 - 14/03/2023 08:45:06 2463823 Link 1 |
First of all, Kesh man get your facts correct. I do comment on football with plenty of evidence of that especially club football! However, if I wish to respond to a poster who makes an excellent comparison about views of another and in doing uses analogies of donkey or an ass to make his point, then that poster is entitled to do so!! Now that your are such a great GAA supporter, do you condone the charging of eight euros each to primary school aged children like my own?? which by the way you conveniently ignored in your response!!

Looking at the league table does a win over Westmeath guarantee Fermanagh's promotion to NFL Division 2. On a side note, I am glad to see the Westmeath game back in Ederney, it would never have been a smart idea to move the pitch when the team have found a winning streak in Ederney.
