I don't think it is the case. The system is as goood as it can be. Anyone can go in at U14 level and they have 4 squads, then they have 3 squads at U15 level, 2 at U16 and 1 at U17. Those U17 squads last few years have had young lads from Clifden and Kinvara so there wiener a whole lot more can be done. At second level, all of these teachers coaches are in contact, a lot of ex Galway players and coaches in Jarlaths, Marys, Claregalway, The Bish etc etc. Anyone at academy level has access to S&C and a good level of coaching

Moycullen look the real deal and will be very hard to stop but SK & Corofin will fancy themselves too but I think the strength & depth Moycullen have and wuith Dessie on fire will win it. I feel SK dont have the ruthlessness or backs to dig it out. Is Tome still injured? Anyone of Monivea Barna Annaghdown & Michaels could go down. Hernon still not playing for Barna and will surely be back for a relegation battle. Obviously Damo back would be huge for Annaghhdown. Ryan Roche & Dara Walsh in midfield for Killanin must be worth a look for PJ & co. Brendans Caltra & Spiddal will fancy their chances although could make a case for a lot of teams. What is going wrong in Annaghdown? They are awful. I mean no plan, no idea. We hammered them yesterday with only a half a team. We won with only Conor Flah, Jack Glynn and Whelen (when Kilcommins got injured) who looked like footballers, and we still won handy. They are my favourites for relegation. Bit of a shock Corofin B beating Caherlistrane. Puts Corofin B in as great spot as they have Gabriel's to come who have taken two hidings. Aran play Caherlistrane in the last game. Aran look better than last year. Got a few players back from abroad I think. What's going on with Oranmore? Many people's favourite to go up and they've been beaten twice. And might end up in the relegation fight. Carraroe All Ireland junior winners but struggling so far. Took a good beating from Kilconly over the weekend. I attended games on both Sat & Sunday in Pearse Stadium and after the two days I'm of the opinion that different teams had different agenda's, on Saturday you had two teams determined to maintain their status and another pair hoping to do so.Sunday on the other hand I got the feeling that the two winners didn't want to display their hand and their opponents would like to cause a bit of an upset.We will have to wait until the games after the group stages to have any real insight as to who is most likely to win out. backtooldwall (Galway) - Posts: 169 - 18/08/2025 12:18:46 2632444 Link 0 |

Was Damo togged at all? Reality is they should get hosue in order and could beat Monivea Barna Michaels IF Damo back. Was Kilcommins a bad injury? The difference between the top teams and the bottom teams in senior is getting bigger and bigger each year

Oranmore must be qualified for relegation already? They're guaranteed bottom spot in that group anyway, assuming that the usual head to head rule applies to any 2way ties. Before a ball was kicked, many agreed that group looked the toughest of the intermediate ones, in some fairness to Oranmore. Less than twelve months ago, one or two expert football posters on here were touting them strongly for promotion alright, before they crashed to a very heavy defeat in their exit from the ko phase. With this format, the top and bottom sides are generally confirmed after two games, and the only thing that the round 3 games will decide is who finishes 2nd and 3rd in the groups. Would be critical if only 8 were qualifying, but with 12 making it, it's obviously less critical. You might get a softer preliminary qfinal in 2nd place, you might not either. When you see the spread of clubs in the 16 Academy the manager and coaches appear to have gotten things fairly right. Also given the fact that this was the first year amalgamating the regional squads into one group success was welcomed. Augurs well for 2026
