Jake's Saloon & Connolly's Pub over the weekend

McLean Ave on match day.

This is looking like Galway's last trip to New York. Love to hear what others have planed."

We wouldn't be that desperate for attention, surely??"]Its called having a bit of crack. Be careful in case ye enjoy the trip. Judging by how few travelled to London last year I cannot see to many travelling to New York."]That wasn't 'craic', that was one of the most awkward looking and cringey scenes the GAA has ever experienced

Approx 7k Mayo fans went to NY last year yet not even 3k made the short trip to Hyde Park for the much more significant group stage game in June. Partial to a bandwagon perhaps?"]Partial to having a good reason to head to the Big Apple for a session I think. There were plenty of season tickets available this year. The bandwagon is broken.

Replying To LottoPlus:  "Looking around and speaking to neighbouring clubs there seems to be some amount of drain of club footballers out of the county. We have lost 2-3 really good players in Claregalway and 10-12 in the last 2-3 years and I know our noisey neighbours in Annaghdown are down up to 15 players in the last two years. Caherlistrane are also well hit and Mountbellow/Moylough were disseminated last year and I can only imagine other clubs who have a smaller player base are struggling. Will this mean we could see as surprise winner of this years Frank Fox or Corofin who are an older more establish team still be favourites? What do folks think?"
Let's let the leagues finish at least before talking about Frank Fox again! Plenty of time for players in the Galway panel to show their skills that they can apply to club too.

I made a comment last year about how moycullen have added themselves to the fairly long list of clubs that aren't able to beat corofin in knockout championship. I don't really see that list changing yet and MM are still the only team to do that in the last 10 years. Still plenty of new management & new blood in senior football so the leagues should hopefully show something.

New York fast approaching.

Be careful with your mobile data. You could get scalded very easily. Might be worth investing €20 in an eSim. I am looking at GoMoworld.

Not sure if I'll venture to the Dancing event!

Less formal event in Mustang Harrys on the Friday (meet and greet with the squad and past players).

Connollys has a fundraiser for Caherlistrane,

I think GBFM are in Jakes Saloon on the Saturday afternoon .....i think but not sure!

Can't wait. Should be a great trip.

Anyone else have any info?

Disgraceful carry on whoever damaged the pitch. Hopefully those responsible are found and made do hard labour to repair the damage caused

Yes, that's the same info I have. We're all staying just down from Connolly's in time square but loads of other bars around that with cheaper tonics.

We're all giving the dancing craic a miss too. Head up to McLean Ave in Yonkers on Sunday morning before that match. A few Irish bars up there where everyone meets up.

Good idea on the sim card. Let me know how you get on.

It's laughable.New tweaks suiting Kerry and Dublin to a tee so there will be no more changes I can guarantee it

20 mins in and it's just a shockingly weak start from Galway. What is going on? Where's the fight?

Butchered so many chances in that first half. Defence not as tight as usual.

This reminds me of last summer in the final except I'm sitting in the cusack. You can see Dublin are just stopping the 2 point efforts and we are reluctant to kick it in until the Tierney one. They on the other hand are kicking everything in. Need a goal now

The problems tonight are familiar enough with the problems that presented last allireland final day. Lack of pace going at defenses, resulting in slow laborious buildups that favour modern defenses. In contrast, Dubs attacking with pace, and finding space, and chances routinely. Flaherty not looking like a defender. Maher not going well, was he 'picking up' Bugler on the goal. Walsh's terrible pass to Finnerty blew a straightforward open goal chance. Seemed to give it a very hard pop, when some precision and care was all that was required.

Our full back line are being devoured at times. Miles off the pace and off their markers. Dublin forwards have loads of space. Midfield are out of it. Conroy possibly needs a forwards berth, looks like he's just not young enough for the engine room anymore - unfortunately. We still can't get off the deck. Darcy can't get up off the ground. Are we actually working on our verticals? Our box jumps etc? Is that happening, I wonder. Other teams do it. We still can't bloody jump! Everyone can outfield us, even if the ball is landed down on top of us. It's an ongoing serious problem in gaining possession and needs huge improvement.
Walsh gone now. Finnerty gone. A hugely disappointing night so far. This is a good Dublin team out tonight but not one of the great ones, and we still can't put it up to them. Hoping for a serious turn around in the second half.

Story of missed chances. Left about 2-5 behind them. Finnerty missed a handy 1-3 before being subbed. Walsh put a simple free straight into Cluxton. Tierney didn't finish his goal chance. Done well on Cluxton's kick outs. Walsh looked like he picked up a knock there at the end.

Walsh off at half time. No point taking a risk with him. No sure where the scores will come from this half.
