Never actually accepted the job now thats a fairy tale story. He accepted it and was rubber stamped at the Leitrim county board meeting in August only to step down a few weeks ago.

Mickey Graham was assistant manager last year and was involved with Ballinamore before that, so the excuse that he wasnt told about players going travelling I think is nonsense.
Its not a good look for him, he was ratified by management committee so he would have to have agreed.

BUT more importantly it comes back to the way managers/coaches are paid these days, no control over it, the amounts they are getting at club level is a joke so god knows what they are getting for intercounty. They will always going for the higher paid role, and in one way you cant blame them but if you agree to a job you should keep your word.

This will be forgotten about quick enough, maybe not in Leitrim, and will keep on happening until Croke Park come up with a system to sort it but that is a hard task

Bitter lol? Galway are as bad to entertain a man who walked out on Leitrim. But look best of luck to ye.... as I've said not much honour (or respect either) left in GAA. I think that's more important than any silverware.

Complete nonsence. You're telling me a man that was involved in the previous 12 months before he took the job didn't know the lie of the land before he put his name forward? The man then accepted the job and was formally ratified at a county board meeting. You can dress this up whatever way you like but it's desperate stuff. Worse that Galway are even entertaining it as well.

Don't know where you're getting your information from but he accepted the job in early August and was ratified then. As regards players travelling it was well known that several players were going away that was known months ago, maybe a few others stepped away too I'm not sure but if he had any doubts regarding taking the job he shouldn't have took it simple as.

Simple choice for a coach though isn't it, Leitrim or Galway. As much as I've great time for Leitrim people"
Simple choice is managing a next door county with easier commuting times for training who won't win an all Ireland than trekking to a faraway county as a second banana who won't win an all Ireland either.

Anyone hear that more Leitrim players informed him they were leaving to travel after he'd agreed the role with them? I'm hearing some of that but can't vouch for its accuracy. Listen, I'm a fan of Leitrim and what the county achieves with a population equivalent to Salthill-Knocknacarra. I'm not being smart, it's genuinely brilliant that Leitrim are competitive and always producing some great talent given the numbers and resources. However, if Graham was left in a predicament where already low numbers were suddenly lower still, then he was being hit late with this critical info on the talent available to him and probably within his rights to reassess at that point. It's only October. Not much set in stone anywhere yet re 2025 campaign.

I'll be honest, it doesn't sit great with me. Committing to Leitrim and then leaving before a ball is even kicked can definitely leave a sour taste. Particularly when taking up a role shortly after with another county.
Comparing the counties as like-for-like as 'neither will win an All-Ireland' is a bit disingenuous though. Galway definitely have the potential to win an All-Ireland with this group. Last year is clear evidence of that. We had plenty opportunities to win the final, but didn't take them.
Whether we do get over the line or not remains to be seen, but the opportunity is there. Armagh wouldn't have been many people's choice at the start of this year.

Well I was hoping that yee would win the All Ireland tbh, but with this news I wouldn't be too supportive I'm afraid for 2025.

It's the man who left the job ye should have the issue with here to be honest - who he decides to go to after that is another matter entirely.
From a Galway point of view I'd not be too sure it's a great appointment regardless of any of that.

I can see how it would leave a very sour taste especially with the timing of it but at least there is enough time to replace him with Eamon O Hara being mentioned. It seems to be the direction of travel now for coaches anyway. Cian O Neill had barely finished up with us this year before the news broke of him joining Kerry(appreciate he lives down that direction or so I understand). Paddy Tally was with us and went to Kerry(having been manager of Down and on the backroom of other counties). Kevin Walsh gone to Cork. Seamus McEnaney(who has been to a few counties also) did an interview in the past few days saying it should be regularized with payment from Croke Park which might put things on a more level footing and give counties with a smaller population a better chance of an equal footing.

Mickey G was appointed with Leitrim - 06 Aug.
Cian O Neill officially goes to Kerry - 06 Sep.
Mickey G departed Leitrim - 08 October for circumstances beyond his control. Yet 2 weeks later he is in Joyces backroom team......
Looks like someone came calling while appointed as Leitrim manager with a more attractive proposal!! If so, bad form on both parties.

Looking forward to the county final Sunday. Should be a close one. How do people see it going? This forum has turned into a Leitrim forum the past few days.

This is very different. He was appointed Leitrim manager in August and then walks out before even taking up the post.
He miraculously turns up in Galway with Joyce.
How could anyone think this is just another movement of a coach. It does not reflect well on Padraic Joyce and Galway CB.8

Really looking forward to this one, don't think it will be a a high scoring game more tactical affair,I think Corofin will come out on top by 2, i just feel moycullen have 2 many lads with niggles or potentially out injured, worried about the ref making a balls of it he's doesn't let it flow and can be very finicky!!

Intermediate
Oranmore Vs Michael's- I cant wait to go to this game, think it will be a classic. I just think Michael's will pip them. However, exciting times for Oranmore GAA ahead.

Caltra Vs Glan- Caltra by 3, I think Caltra will
actually win the Intermediate out. They will go into the final as underdogs.

Moycullen Vs Corofin- so hard to know this one. I expect a cagey game. I'm leaning towards Moycullen but only if Cooke and Dessie are fit otherwise it's a Corofin win.

Hopefully we get a great weekend of Football. All games should be close.

Most will be tipping Corofin to win, Are favourties to win with bookies and their punters on Sunday and also favourties to win Connacht but I'm going to go against the grain and tip Moycullen which would make it their 3rd senior county title win in five years some turn around from not winning it at all before 2020

Wouldn't expect a high scoring game considering both are conceding very low scores in their games this year. Moycullen felt the loss of Sean Kelly last year in a final they lost by two points with him back now it could be enough to win by a point or two. injury concerns about Conneely and Cooke though both will start I believe.

If it as transpires Mickey Graham is in with Galway and left Leitrim because he got a better offer then he's gone up in my estimation.

He's an ambitious man and taking the Leitrim job for a man who's won an Ulster final is not going to enhance his reputation.

I think you might be missing some impactful dates between the 6th Aug and 8th Oct, during which Graham was informed (late) of a number of key departures of Leitrim players, leaving him with a much weaker hand than had been pitched to him during his recruitment.
