Only one team will get relegated, and it probably won't be Cappy.

They probably won't get relegated but they were easily beaten by Oranmore, couldn't beat Tommy Larkins and couldn't get near a Sarsfields side missing four of the best six players. They deserve to be scrapping it out with Kilconieron, Moycullen/Gort and Ardrahan in the relegation playoffs.

This St Thomas' full back line is going to get absolutely filleted by one of the big hitters if they don't get Fintan back for the knockouts. Jason Rabbitte has destroyed them in the first half and he is operating nearly as a one man forward line for Athenry. A much better forward line in Loughrea, Clarinbridge, Turlough or Sarsfields will open them up at their ease. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 995 - 07/09/2025 16:50:55 2635187 Link 1 |
Thomas' had to go to the emergency option to bring Fintan on in the second half to stifle Jason Rabbitte. Eanna Burke very good but on today's evidence St Thomas' haven't improved on last year, it was more that they had played two poor teams in Gort and Moycullen. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 995 - 07/09/2025 17:39:15 2635192 Link 1 |
Cathal Mannion scored 18 points today. This man is unbelievable. SouthGalway (Galway) - Posts: 13 - 07/09/2025 18:23:04 2635201 Link 0 |
Craughwell playing some beautiful hurling here in first half against Loughrea. Ciaran Leen and Adrian Prendergast the standouts in attack. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 995 - 07/09/2025 18:33:47 2635204 Link 1 |
Three posts in a row having a dig at Cappy. Sounds like you've been waiting for them to slip, so you can get your shot at them. For a club who don't have the numbers underage that many others have, they've been remarkably consistent for the past 7 years. They weren't long up from intermediate before that, but proved themselves to be on the top bracket of senior clubs for a number of years. They're an example for many clubs. Loughrea in a bit of bother after that one. Burns gone on a straight red and injury to Tiernan Killeen to add to Jamie Ryan and Shaughnessy already injured. Craughwell fully deserved winners 3-22 to 2-23. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 995 - 07/09/2025 19:27:56 2635214 Link 1 |

Mannion is averaging 0-17 for awhile now.......definitely all star material.

I think they will be anything but great and completely one sided! Eyrecourt, Kinvara, Killimor and Rahoon-Newcastle comfortably. Ballindeeren and Mellows easily. Cappy and Ardrahan will have no trouble winning. Turlough and Loughrea by atleast 10pts Cashel and Athenry to win also! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2705 - 08/09/2025 10:10:30 2635280 Link 1 |
I would broadly agree with that, but I'll chance Sarsfields over Cashel.

You were doing grand til you let your heart rule your head on Sarsfields vs Cashel. Sarsfields strong favourites for that one.

Athenry put it up to Thomas`s but they just did enough but showed they can be got at Rabbitee showed his class surely has to be given time with Galway next year. What is going on in Gort a great win for Moycullen but Gort only scored 2 points in 2nd half. Loughrea bet and deseverdly so but handy draw for them against Moycullen who are happy to avoid relegation and reatin Senior status and can now concentrate on football. Cappy in bother but should have enough to get out of it. Clareinbridge & Thomass could end up in a QF against a Turlough or Loughrea. How does releagation from Senior B work this year? Eire89 (Galway) - Posts: 400 - 08/09/2025 12:43:36 2635314 Link 1 |
No relegation this year from Senior B because next year it will be Liam Mellows, Ballindeeren, Kilnadeema-Leitrim, Gort, Tynagh Abbey-Duniry, Mullagh, Portumna, P Pearses, Meelick-Eyrecourt, Kinvara, Carnmore, Killimor, Beagh, Ballygar, Rahoon-Newcastle and Sk Mountbellew. Gort are in bits.....Big large hurling town and they put 3 adult teams in Seniors are a sinking ship, Junior B got battered with barely 15 players and Junior E couldn't field!! Look at Kinvara 3 adult teams......Intermediate are flying, Junior D County Semi Final and Junior E County Semi Final!! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2705 - 08/09/2025 15:43:13 2635351 Link 2 |
It doesn't. 8 teams in Senior B plus the top 2 in each group make 16 in Premier Intermediate next year One team will go up to Senior and one will drop from Senior to Intermediate Are the QF draws in Senior & Intermediate seeded, presumably they are? I can't argue with you about Gort. No excuses.

Maigh Cuilinn are already concentrating on the football and it'll have little bearing on the hurling. A few dual players, but very little overlap between both teams.

I agree with other commentators that it is not very likely that Moycullen will progress but park the wagon and concentrate on something else doesn't seem to be their style, I take it you may not have watched them very often but you can be assured that trying to the end is a trait of all their teams no matter how much they may lack at times.Hard to beat was how they were perceived to me and most followers that had anything to say about them.Their duel club setup isn't a recipe for success but an increase in population over the last twenty years out there allows competition with most of the bigger towns in the county, if they acquire a secondary school in the area in the not too distant future it could be a game changer like bigger locations of Athenry, Loughrea ,Claregalway, and Oranmore have benefited.
