the more you harp on about the incident, the more i think you didnt see it, i saw it again on tg4 last night - skip to 36.25 https://www.tg4.ie/en/player/categories/sport-tv-player/play/?pid=6362960950112&title=GAA%202024&series=GAA%202024&genre=Sport&pcode=650414 Traderjoe (Galway) - Posts: 1 - 08/10/2024 13:16:44 2573661 Link 1 |
Thomas's are no angels would you stop.I have always admired them but call a spade a spade, they got away with it on Sunday.I am nit from Turloughmore either but I like to see fair play.I am not the only one saying it.

Thank you.If that was a yellow card then God help the game of hurling. The Thomas's lad made a complete meal of it.The inconsistency in reffing is what is driving people crazy.I was at a minor match a few weeks ago and several players did this and the opposition weren't even given a free let alone the lad who did it getting sent off So yes Thomas were very lucky on Sunday and they know it.

Maybe there is a case for yellow and black cards to be combined into one, I think that it would be far less lightly a player would transgress twice after 10 mins thinking about the first one. I can't recall many if any at all receiving a yellow after a black, the reverse is more prevalent, it may be worth trialling as sending offs for marginal yellows tend to destroy games and are sometimes seem more than the combined transgressions warrant.

I was in line with it actually at the game. Not on tv. The bang on the top of the helmet was clear as day. Thats a yellow. If anything, it's Turlough crying about it.

Maybe try reading the rulebook. You'll be enlightened. Careless use of the hurl is a yellow card. No one cares about some underage game either.

Got away with what exactly? Did Tom Quirke carelessly use the hurl under the dropping ball? Yes or no. If yes, it's a yellow.

And that's the problem. They should care So you are basically saying that it's OK for younger age groups can go out hammering each other as long as poor Thomas's get protected Lord above the more you go on the more you are digging a hole for yourself. The nudge in the back before the ball comes in is a specialty of theirs and they get away with it but sure the linesmen never see those.

The nudge on the back is a Thomas speciality. I've heard it all now. Imagine believing they're the only team that do it. Daithi Burke holds the catching hand under the dropping ball. He needs to be put on trial.

I wasn't counting the frees but having said that I don't recall Conor Cooney doing much apart from taking frees and arguing with the ref. I'm not a supporter of either club but there were at least two blatant dives from ST players in the second half, frees that won the game for them. For a club that has won so much in recent years it's a pity to see that type of behaviour. Turlough also missed a few handy frees and didn't drive on when they were ahead.

A bitter rival supporter "dives" in GAA heard it all no doubt there were soft frees and if go through any match every team will make a case for themselves fact of matter is Thomas`s have what it takes to get over the line when it comes to the crunch & Turlough were found wanting again. I actually belive the winner will be from other SF Loughrea & Clareinbridge but again who can doubt this Thomas`s team. Hopeful of 2 good semis. In inter TAD look like team to beat but that was also the case last year & Ballinderrin bet them in final. I feel they wont be cauhgt this year.

As a neutral supporter i can only admire st on how they can win tight matches they are typical of a successful team managing to win while not playing well something galway should try and replicate they remind me of kilkenny

Well as you said it's either a rule or not so you can't have it both ways.

Cooney was quiet alright. Lucky for Turlough he didn't turn it on, I suppose. They couldn't beat Thomas' with their best player off form. They might as well throw their hat at it now at this stage. What won them the game was James Regan's point. Try again. One team held their nerve down the home straight. The other got a man sent off and started trotting out the excuses. Where is "nudge" used in the rule book? I can point to careless use of hurl as being a yellow card. Can you direct me? Maybe you want not contact but that's not hurling.

Its funny to hear nudge this, push that and dive here and there and how lucky ST were to win, they must be the luckiest team in Galway to win as much as they have done over the last decade! A lot things happen in 70 minutes some in your favor some not, players have off days, the weather and ground didn't suit. I've heard every excuse in the book why a team didn't win, if a team is known for doing something in the dark arts, counter it don't complain after the fact. Successful teams seem to develop an ability to get over the line in very tight games that previous this they may have lost, Kilkenny, Limerick in hurling Dublin in football or at local club level St Thomases, Portumna in hurling and of course Corofin in football. I think the answer is more likely to lie in this area rather than some of the conspiracy theories floating around. One thing I do seem to imagine is that teams who are expected win seem to be awarded frees sooner in marginal situations than less fancied opponents.PS .(This just a personal feeling not based on any known fact)

Joe isn't holding back in the book. The bit about Lynesky and the minor captain shows why all the backbiting and begrudgery goes on 2maroonjerseys (Galway) - Posts: 88 - 11/10/2024 12:01:22 2574179 Link 2 |
