Cavan literally won the Ulster Senior Championship 11 months ago? As regards the move, it seems a poor call, and bafflingly hastily executed. GallantJohnJoe (Cavan) - Posts: 329 - 01/10/2021 09:42:45 2383912 Link 2 |
If that's the case shut down the forums altogether. Someone can still post something libellous on the National page.

Could you please explain and/or clarify... 1. Who authorised the the retirement of almost all the county forums? 2. Was there any consultation with the users of the county forums? If not, why not? 3. Why were two of the county forums retained? 4. Was there an equality impact assessment done? 5. Have there been any consumer rights broken that are applicable in both parts of this island by such action? 6. Finally, I assume that the GAA HQ paid for the administration of this Hoganstand platform from monies raised from GAA supporters nationwide so does that not entitle those supporters to have a say on this matter? abc1234 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 406 - 01/10/2021 10:41:44 2383924 Link 1 |
People visit the hoganstand forums for a bit of crack / banter. While there they may browse through the news on the website. Jack L (None) - Posts: 3141 - 01/10/2021 10:51:45 2383926 Link 0 |
Most county forums were dead/very few posts. no surprise theyve been removed but surely if removing the overwhelming majority why not just remove them all then? KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3674 - 01/10/2021 11:24:42 2383929 Link 0 |
Just used that quote in a work meeting this morning..... executive gold

Poor decision but would have been more acceptable and fair if notice was given that inactive forums would be closed and many of the county forums that were closed were far from inactive. KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3674 - 01/10/2021 11:30:28 2383935 Link 1 |
Have a look at www.boards.ie sometime if you're not familiar with it already. All posts go up instantly, but there's a facility for other users to report a post if it seems out of order, and volunteer mods review all posts regularly too. A similar system would surely work here too. I don't like the GAA forum on boards.ie, because it's basically what it appears we now have to move towards here. There's just one thread per county, where all GAA matters relating to that county are discussed, instead of there being several sub-threads so that all issues can be discussed separately from each other. And the thing I really don't understand is if the move here really was down to having too many posts to moderate, across too many forums.....surely there'll be the same number of posts anyway, if people just continue to post all their county stuff to the national forum instead? I'm with many others here in hoping for a reply from the admins to address many of the points raised, but it looks at this stage as if we're not going to get it. You're all more than welcome on the Meath forums lads. Who do you guys think will win the Intermediate Championship this year? :) Meath10 (Meath) - Posts: 190 - 01/10/2021 11:57:22 2383944 Link 1 |
Just looked at the Cavan forum and it's not that busy, in fairness the meath one is, but so was loads of other county forums more allot so then Cavan and just as busy as meaths, there's plenty of forums too that had next to no traffic so understandable there , but hoganstand need to explain why they kept meath and Cavan and discarded the rest. Me thinks it's a little bit more than that.? The National forum is no longer user friendly, as time goes on it will get more cumbersome to use. Topics are moving fast on the home page in fact some have moved on to the second page at speed. Even though the National forum wasn't overly inviting to all and sundry never the less everyone knew they could potter around on their own county forum at ease and if they wished. It now appears as if everyone is cooking in the one kitchen and we are tripping over one another searching for our individual post, yesterday I posted a couple of lines to KillingFields (Limerick) asking if he was behind all this and could he get it reversed, (all in jest) but it didn't get through. Personally I don't think this new way of doing things here is going to work out, either it will be reversed or the plug will be pulled, admin are monitoring posters opinions, satisfaction / dissatisfaction all of this will be processed and evaluated fiscally and plan B will be activated accordingly. It matters not who runs the Hoganstand.com business, at the end of the day the GAA have total ownership over all matters that are GAA related with patented / copyrights, etc, etc. therefore the GAA are making money out of this too, so it wouldn't be in their interest to see Hoganstand.com cease or discontinue. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3050 - 01/10/2021 14:08:18 2383978 Link 1 |
I really can't understand the uproar regarding this. Wally (Tyrone) - Posts: 922 - 01/10/2021 14:10:15 2383979 Link 0 |
The difficulty with hoganstand forms has always been the moderation. It stifles any semblance of coherent discussion as users can wait 12 hours or more for their post to appear. And if it does get rejected, there's no indication that this has happened, why it happened or any means of appeal. TearsIn85 (Monaghan) - Posts: 205 - 01/10/2021 14:30:26 2383987 Link 1 |
