Replying To Wally:  "Exactly my point. Ulsters provincial stadium being situated in west Belfast is just madness.

To service all counties in Ulster adequately then this stadium should have been built in mid Ulster. East Tyrone with proper motorway and road networks to north, east, south and west would have been best.

Also, why does irelands second largest city need a stadium with this price tag? I seriously doubt Antrim GAA will improve dramatically due to this monstrosity.

As others have stated, this money would have been far better spent on a proper underage development plans and a first class coaching structure.

But now all Ulster counties will be restricted from an investment perspective due to one vanity project."
Doubtless SF will there front and centre when they are cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony, built with the help of their paymasters HM gov in Westminster, Tiocfaidh ar La indeed.

Replying To Commodore:  "That's rich coming from a Cavan whinger who is on here needing geographical references including the word "Extreme south" to be literally pinpointed to the Southern border of Cavan. With **** roads to Clones, its a logistical nightmare for fans and Casement will be no improvement from other parts of Ulster."
What are you talking about? Clones is not the extreme south of Ulster regardless of where I'm from. It's not even the extreme south of Monaghan

They should put the stadium somewhere in the extreme west of Ulster - Strabane for example

Replying To Square_B:  "If only all the organisations in NI could come together and build one decent stadium but that ship has sailed long ago. It's a sorry state of affairs as Belfast badly needs one municipal stadium with 40-50k seats. €25mil spent on Clones would be money well spent and Ulster GAA would still have Clones and the use of a stadium in Belfast."
Imagine Healy Park in Omagh got a £50 million facelift, Ulster GAA might finally have a 40,000 capacity Stadium .

40,000 fans invading Omagh would be some crack. They could literally hold the town under siege if they were in the mood.

If the argument is location, well let's move everything on the Island to Athlone and be done with it. Central to everyone...

Belfast badly needs a municipal stadium but of course politics rules on that. It's sad in this day that grown men & women cannot agree on matters of progress.

40,000 supporters invading Clones with a population of about 1,500. Omagh has about 120,000.

Why doesn't the GAA join up with Ulster Rugby and build a proper stadium for use by both

Let's be honest though, neither location would be a smooth operation for 40,000 fans.

Hope this week's finances move things on and Ulster gets a proper modern gaa stadium.Belfast well served by train, bus and motorway and as Ireland s 2nd largest city this is well overdue.Think it's worth remembering this stadium will also be a facility for hurling (and maybe other events)

" this stadium will also be a facility for hurling", so the hurlers are allowed in as well. This about sums up the Ulster Council's attitude to hurling.
