No, he never stops spouting off especially anything Irish. Himself and Jim Allister have Anti Irish embedded on their brain. Good news for Casement and Ulster GAA. You can't do right for doing wrong in their eyes.

I have complained about southerners having anti Northern views. Saying the words Northern Ireland doesn't make me a partitionist, a partitionist is someone who considers Northern Ireland a foreign country. I don't consider Northern Ireland foreign to the republic but accepting that there is a border there is just being a realist.

In fairness Bryson isn't objecting to a New GAA Stadium in West Belfast, just questioning the level of funding it is needing (>£300 million / €350 million), when Windsor park (Soccer) got £45 million and Ravenhill (Rugby) only got £20 million. I'm not surprised considering that Sinn Fein reps keep referencing hosting a match at Euro 2028 as the main justification for the stadium, previously it was RWC 2023 failed bid and a large concert venue in Belfast used as justification. They seem afraid to refer to it as a GAA Stadium. Commodore (Donegal) - Posts: 1202 - 01/08/2024 13:45:40 2563427 Link 2 |
The UK Government will not be supporting the long awaited re-development. Boxtyeater (Leitrim) - Posts: 715 - 13/09/2024 21:34:06 2569775 Link 0 |
The funny thing is Bwyson and Alister are both Irish, God help us. On another note I never refer to the six counties by the name given to it by British imposed partition, to me it's the black north, the wee north, the north of Ireland it is not, that's Donegal. Starmer is good for the Irish question and he trains in a Donegal jersey so he can't be all bad.lol Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3029 - 13/09/2024 21:58:16 2569777 Link 0 |
I'm not surprised at all. The announcement yesterday about Pat Finucane was a trade off for denying Casement funding and denying an inquiry for the Brown family. There was also a lot of deep hostility from the Unionist political and media Establishment in the North who are against everything to do with the GAA and Irish Language. It's smoke and mirrors. I think when the dust settles there will be a certain amount of funding available for Casement. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9785 - 13/09/2024 22:21:48 2569782 Link 0 |
Ulster final staying in Clones, no complaints from me on that side of it anyway.

Hopefully now common sense will prevail and some of the money set aside can now be spent on Clones to bring it up to a good standard. BrehonBlonde (Monaghan) - Posts: 84 - 13/09/2024 23:19:57 2569787 Link 3 |
How in the space of a year did the redevelopment costs go from 160 million to 400 million? bruffgael (Limerick) - Posts: 201 - 14/09/2024 00:03:04 2569788 Link 1 |
No wonder it is at an expected cost of £400mil ... bananas.

The British government obviously need the money to send more weapons to Israel and Ukraine so they can slaughter more civilians or poke the Russian bear into all out war. Honestly, if this is it for Casement, then so be it. I am sick to death of all the sectarianism surrounding it, not to mention the narrow mindedness and I'll informed opinions on the area from some so called GAA folk on here. If anyone was unsure of what it takes to uphold the GAA in certain parts of Ireland, hopefully this 10 year witch hunt tells you all you need to know. Whose estimate I wonder? If the Brits wanted to wriggle out of it - say it's too expensive. Time the GAA started to build what they can afford with the monies available. By the way the Stormont £62m can't be spent on Clones. Seanfanbocht (Roscommon) - Posts: 1952 - 14/09/2024 10:21:25 2569804 Link 0 |
Looks like it's dead. A real shame. It should have been redeveloped years ago but local residents were objecting? yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11407 - 14/09/2024 10:46:30 2569806 Link 0 |
Poor Shinners let down by their Labour Party masters again. You'd think they'd have copped on at this stage. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 14/09/2024 12:11:07 2569813 Link 2 |
I am fully behind Casement , it'll be built somehow but the first time Rugby or soccer come calling for the loan of it they can be told where to go. The Ukrainian President is laughing at Britain for the amount of money he's getting. Wee croaky Jim Allister will still be grumpy . Good post Saffron, nail on head. Many on HS haven't the first clue what it is like to be a Gael in the North nor do many of them care if we are being honest. We've had members murdered, others attacked, threatened and intimidated, club houses burnt down, bombs hung on changing rooms, pitches studded with broken bottles and dog sh*t spread all over our facilities. Now a sectarian campaign by the Unionist political and media Establishment has worked again. Casement was more than just a football pitch, it was the litmus test for powersharing and 2 fingers have been stuck up to us.

We all wonder that, a pity Labour did not proceed to develop Casement Park for the people of Belfast, and the NI GAA community.

You need to be talking to the people you elect then. They're the ones wiping your eye.

There are people down here who have no idea of the ordeal that the Nationalist people, went through. from 1922 until recent times, at the hands of the Unionist Govt. The UK Governments ignored the blatant discrimination for years. That rump still have influence in NI, although the Unionist position is in decline.
