Eoin Kennedy’s fisted point in the fifth minute of injury-time saw Cuala create history at Parnell Park this afternoon as they defeated Kilmacud Crokes (0-14 to 1-10) for their first Dublin senior football championship title.
A sizzling start saw the Dalkey men racing towards a 0-7 to 0-2 half-time lead and they'd go point for point witth Crokes after the change of ends to still hold a five-point lead when the game entered its final quarter.
Kilmacud reduced the deficit to three ahead of a sublime ball from Paul Mannion finding Luke Ward in space and the latter would hold his nerve to find the net, tying things up (0-12 to 1-9) with six minutes left in normal time.
Cuala lost star man Con O'Callaghan to a straight red card afterwards and extra time looked on the way until a late free sent towards the Crokes posts found its way to Kennedy who sealed the famous win for Austin O'Malley's men with this effort:
