Gaoth Dobhair sprung an upset in the Donegal senior football championship this evening as they held on to secure a 1-7 to 0-9 win over hosts St Eunan’s at O’Donnell Park, Letterkenny.

A 15th minute goal proved key for last year’s beaten finalists against the 2021 champions, moving them 1-2 to 0-3 ahead before the Letterkenny side got on level terms by the break (1-3 to 0-6) thanks to a hat-trick of Conor O’Donnell jnr points.

Daire Ó Baoill would steer the visitors back in front before Stephen McFadden created a two-point gap between the sides late on.

Having defeated Kilcar and holders Naomh Conaill in their opening two games of the competition, St Eunan’s pushed hard in injury-time but only managed a point from Conor O’Donnell snr, which left them short in the end and the Magheragallon men with a second win in three games.

Meanwhile, Glenswilly came from seven points down to defeat Four Masters by 2-9 to 2-7 in Donegal Town.

The home side looked out of sight after two goals from Senan Carr sent them towards a 2-6 to 1-2 lead by the early stages of the second-half, but four unanswered points from former Donegal captain Michael Murphy ignited Glenswilly.

Jake Kelly’s goal in the closing 10 minutes would come at the ideal time for the visitors after that, as they saw out the important win.
