Naomh Conaill got their Donegal senior football championship defence off to a perfect start yesterday evening by handing Cloughaneely a 3-14 to 0-4 defeat at Pairc Naomh Fionnan.
Brendan McDwyer’s goal midway through the first-half got Glenties motoring as they raced towards a 1-8 to 0-3 half-time lead.
Shaun Maguire’s free after the change of ends would prove to be Cloughaneely’s last score of the evening as the holders cruised towards their emphatic 19-point win.
A Charlie McGuinness goal would see them further out of sight before the same man added another major to help round off the impressive opening win for Martin Regan’s charges.
