Replying To LottoPlus:  "I dont know where we are at. Jury is still out. Thought the score flattered us a bit. Donegal shooting or lack of shooting was strange. They had numerous chances in the second half to shoot but did not pull the trigger, seemed to look around to find someone to shoot but no one was there. McGuinness kept his powder dry.
So far we have played a a Armagh team who were unfit, a Mayo team that had half a team out and Derry team who ran over us in the second half.
Big questions ahead for Joyce. Is Conroy a 70 min man (I don't think so), McDaid is living of past Glories, I think he is gone, Is joyce strong enough to make that call John Daly (my once favourite player) is too slow for this new game. Flaherty is a better type goalie for this game because he kicks the ball well but only got a half yesterday. Darcy ball skills are poor and Sweeney, who gets a lot of chances is just becoming a journey man who offers nothing really. Anyone could play his match. Bye the way Maher is brilliant for Galway. Top man. Kelly was also excellent yesterday but not a great marker. I think he would be a great driving midfielder.
Also, Joyce seems to think giving someone 15 minutes in this weather is giving a player a chance. I see Costello and McGlinchey on the panel. They are too young and should be left with 20's. Costello looked like a young boy against Mayo.
Also what has Joyce got against us in Claregalway. Glynn is getting dam all time and Flaherty 30 mins. Also is Kilcommons on the panel. He was one of the best club players last year where is he gone to. Why was O Currain not there yesterday. Where is O Conghaile? I saw Molloy against Derry and he is not up to it. Is Morris using yellow tented glasses playing him. He seems overweight and disinterested.
Next week the team I would start is.
1. O Flaherty, 2. McGrath,3. Fitzgerald ,4. O Flaherty, 5. McHugh, 6. Silke, 7. Mulkerrin , 8. Maher, 9 Hernon10 Kilcommons (if he is on the panel) if not Sam o Neill (though jury is out with his strength for inter county), 11. Walshe as he seems to be enjoying the games. 12. Tierney, 13 O' Currain, 14. o Conghaile 15 Finnerty (he needs a lot of matches).
Rest Kelly and Conroy and give them 15-20 mins in the end if you want. Actually I was thinking that they could leave McHugh and Silke on bench as well but then you would be killing the team."
I have to leave this forum after reading this post. Nice being here guys

Replying To Scenicparish:  "You seem to have a serious chip on your shoulders? Calm yourself down.
Galway were the better team yesterday especially in the first half when the wind was at its strongest. Walsh was is a joy to watch in his current form.
Tierney's red was for dangerous play, he led with his shoulder and could have done serious harm if he connected properly.
I don't think anyone is disrespecting Galway. They are the team to beat this year in my opinion.
You seem to have problem with Jim? He is not the only one disputing the fact that when a player is sent off ( black or red), a team can simply withdraw one of their three forwards and so there is little gain for the team with 15 players."
No chips on shoulders, we're not like that down here! As for Jim, no problem at all in general with the guy but watching from very close by he and his fellow mentors baying for a ridiculous red card and one very dubious black card were telling.
Tierney was sent off for a hit to the head / contact with the head, which it was not. As for 'leading with the shoulder' what are you on about?! It was a shoulder to shoulder charge, standard stuff, until McFadden dipped last second and feigned. It is what it is but the red card needs rescinding as it's very unfair to an absolute gent of a footballer like Tierney. Lots of dirty players across the country but he ain't one of them.
Anyway, best of luck in Ulster. I hope Donegal do it there and let's see if we can have another tussle in the summer!

Replying To togoutlads:  "A great win yesterday, and stepping out on the pitch in Pearse afterwards, it was impressive shooting off such a worn, soft, slippery surface. (That pitch needs serious recovery time - it's massively overworked for the time of year).
Loads of positives. Of course, the media love in with Jim McGuinness continues with RTE's coverage last night not opening with how good Galway were but that 'Jimmy has a plan' and 'he was resting players' 'not looking at the league' - the whole narrative changed after we handed the league leaders backsides back to them, with 13 men still able to stick it to them. Only a soft spoken footnote from Lee Keegan suggested we might have been missing a few lads too. Like, the footballer of the year Conroy, and Comer, and McDaid, and John Daly. There's little or no respect from RTE for how good a side Galway are and can be when on song, despite being within a whisker of being AI champions. We should use that disrespect as fuel, and stick it to them all!
As for Tierney's red card, it was farcical. McGuinness and his crew absolutely baying for a red on the sideline and the linesman and Coldrick duly obliged. Hugh McFadden is a big burly midfielder, saw the shoulder coming from Tierney and deliberately dipped into it - no doubt in my mind from my vantage point. He then feigned a head hit, when it wasn't. All the slowed down replays show it was into his right shoulder blade / back of his shoulder. It was a joke. That red card categorically must be rescinded. And Jimmy should stop that nonsense when they knew well there was zero malicious intent in Matthew Tierney's challenge. And then Jimmy has a moan about the rules afterwards. If you're man enough to lead a team, be man enough to take the odd beating on the field, with at least some semblance of grace. But the love-in shall continue!"
Probably the worst post I have ever read or attempted to read in years..
Absolute rubbish....

Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "Today's match didn't matter, and was played in ridiculous conditions. Matches from April onwards in both codes DO MATTER. This is a factor that you might need to consider?

Since the interounty hurling and football seasons have both gotten crammed into a January-July timeframe, I'd say there's less appetite in the more discerning fan to attend NFL or NHL games, which essentially amount to 'preseason' games imo in the new format, with the REAL STUFF in both codes just a few weeks away in April. See you in April!!"
I thought real supporters who follow there county for both leagues and championship I know yesterday was brutal weather but Galway in general are very poor supporters prib have a core following of 3-4 thousand max but once team gets near finals the bandwagon support starts coming out I'd actually be embarrassed to look for tickets for final without having being supporting team all year

Replying To Flemenstar200:  "You literally never have anything good to say. Every county is the same bar a couple you'll always have people on the bandwagon when teams are going well. Your the most negative person I've ever seen"
These are facts obviously u are one of these so called supporters u think its good enough just turn up for finals also I have stated on numerous occasions that Galway are a one man scoring forward line Walsh got 11 o flaherty , silke Maher got 1 Conor flaherty got 2 pointer so other 5 forward got 5 points between them no half forward scored and they are facts not negativity but I suppose u just seen the score on tv

Replying To MinorChamp_09:  "Fair point. He was good that day no doubt. His goal was fortuitous as the ball came back off the post and he reacted. Dont think he was man of the match though? Was it John Maher who got it? He should have anyways."
No, Comer got the RTE man of the match that day.
In the preliminary quarter final he was again on fire against mayo until injury struck again and he had to come off at half time. We should have won that game anyway but we definitely would have if he hadn't got injured.
Yes he has had quiet games in the past few seasons (as have all of our forwards) but to say he hasn't played a good game for us since Derry 2022 is plainly absolute BS.
He has struggled badly with injury in both of the last two seasons. If he gets his body right he is far from finished!

There's plenty of proper matches for real supporters to attend in both codes between April and July. I don't know why you're feeling so impacted, and sounding so childish, about real supporters possible reluctance to attend NFL and NHL games between January and March, that may amount to nothing more significant than preseason friendlies in their eyes.

It was different years ago, when you had to wait until June for a championship match, but now the real stuff starts in April, and a portion of real supporters will wait until April to attend.

I know it's early in the year and football season but where would you rank Galway as far as likely to win the All Ireland? I personally rank them 3rd behind Dublin and Kerry only because them two have the knack of winning so many. I believe when we have everyone available to play we are as talented as anyone.
