I see Castlerea St Kevin's minor team was well beaten by Glencar Manorhamilton minors in the Connacht A Q/F. Any reports of the game and is this an exceptional Manor team or was the minor championship in Ros very weak this year? No disrespect to Manor as they are a big club and no doubt have plenty of very talented footballers but you'd always fancy the Roscommon champions to be competitive at the very least

Their minor team contained the likes of John Curran, Cormac Beatty who are over age for U17. Should still be a lot more competitive than that but strange results can happen at underage level.
Leitrim people will be very optimistic that their U17s county team can challenge for the Connacht title in 2025 off the back of two strong U16 teams and those teams was well represented by Glencar Manor players.

This Manor team has only lost one underage game in their tenure from u13 though, they are no slouches. Beating st Mary's in the semi final by 18 pts and winning the final by 9 vs Annaduff while taking their foot off the gas towards the end.

The red card was an outrageous decision & to be fair, for the rest of the First Half Four Roads responded well. To be numerically disadvantaged for over 40 minutes & to be the fall guys for other questionable officiating meant that Toureen were always going to find a way to get back to winning ways. Somehow a 15 v 15 defeat is acceptable as it's a fair fight but when unfortunate decisions are made it's just that bit harder to accept.

Congratulations to Elphin without a doubt the best team on the day. Solid defensively all campaign and at the other end of the field Killoran and Fintan Cregg superb scoring 2-6 of their 2-9 total. Going to take a good team to beat them in Connacht.
As for Strokestown they join a long list of teams unable to bounce straight back to senior level highlighting once more how competitive our intermediate championship is. Today the last five minutes of the first half and 1st 12 minutes of the 2nd half was the only decent spell they had in the game and fell away badly in the final quarter. McGann, Compton and McGinley weren't allowed to influence the game.

My Intermediate club team of year has a strong Elphin representation. As they say defenses wins championship and they certainly did that by conceding just 5 points per game average.
Aaron Brady (Elphin) the clear stand out keeper in the intermediate championship this year, enjoyed his fly keeper role and scored 0-6. Deserve a recall to the senior county panel
Alex Gleeson (Elphin) tight and composed on the ball and probably saved his best performance to last by doing a fine marking job on Shane McGinley
Niall Higgins (Elphin) finally established himself as senior county footballer this year and followed it with a very good club championship by mark some of the best forwards at this grade as seen in the final v McGann and semi final v Conor Cox and held both scoreless from play.
Denis Barron (Eire Og) Very solid showing from Denis and was given the task of marking the best forward each team Eire Og faced
Martin McCaffrey (Elphin) played a captains role for his team, very consistent performer in a solid defensive unit
David Neary (Strokestown) another good season for his club got the better of who he marked including Frankie Cregg on Sunday.
Gavin Murray (Elphin) Former U20 county player from 2021 really shone brightly in the knock out stages.
Shane Killoran (Elphin) getting him back full time has been a big addition for Elphin. MOTM on Sunday. Rumours that he'll return to the county panel and will be well worth his place if that does happen.
Luke Mollohan (Elphin) very good campaign for luke, does a lot of selfless work, and provides huge work rate for his team.

Gearoid Ennis (Fuerty) With Niall Kilroy transfered he stepped up to be one of the top scorers in the championship with 1-34

Diarmuid McGann (Strokestown) found going tough in the final but was very good on route to the final and scored 1-27. I'll always wonder how good of player he could have been if he gave longer than one year commitment to the senior county team.

Didn't see much of strokestown all year but how's young Colm Neary getting on. He was a massive prospect couple of years ago before a bad injury.

If Roscommon can manage to keep Ultan Harney fit and healthy for 2025, then he could have an influence on things like Johnny Maher had for Galway in 2024. Yes, they came up short, but Maher earned a well-deserved All-Star. Harney is all-star potential, if managed right and given a clear run. They're not too dissimilar types of players. And players that can rise the crowd.
