The late Christy Duffy from Oaklawns, Mullingar, who passed away on November 14th, 2016, will be remembered as a Scor legend as well as a loyal supporter of Bunbrosna GAA. A wonderful wordsmith and poet, Christy was a founder member of Bunbrosna Scor and was the first to bring All-Ireland glory to the club with his performance of The Parting Rosary in 1978. A deeply talented man, he was known the length and breadth of Ireland for composing poetry and recitations, another one of which - Poor Barney - also brought an All-Ireland Scor title to his club in 2002. On that occasion, local girl Avril Whitney recited Christy's composition to collect the All-Ireland Scor na nOg crown. As well as bringing All-Ireland acclaim to his club and county, Christy also garnered numerous county and provincial titles within the cultural wing of the GAA. Another one of his poems, 'Mary Ann McGee', won All-Ireland gold in 2005 and 2008 when performed by Liam Butler from Longford and Michael Shinnors from Limerick respectively.
