George Alexander, Liskelly, Ballinagore, Kilbeggan passed away on Monday, December 25th, 2017. A great Ballinagore clubman and a true Gael, George was one of the driving forces behind the reformation of Ballinagore GAA Club in 1977. He togged out at full forward and registered crucial goals in both deciders as the club won the junior league and Fr Macken Cup in 1979. In 1986, he was a selector as the junior football championship was captured for the first time since 1940. George created a special bit of history in 1991 when he lined out alongside his son, Gordon, in an intermediate 'B' league match against Maryland. He remained an ardent supporter of the club after retiring and always helped out in any way he could, including a spell as sponsor. He was sponsor of the side that claimed county and provincial junior club honours in 2005. A truly outstanding clubman in every capacity, who will never be forgotten.
