Darren Ruddy, Moyvore, Mullingar, passed away on Saturday, December 30th, 2017, at the age of 24, following a ten-year battle with illness. Before being diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 14, Darren played gaelic football for Millmore Gaels. His father, Gerry, hails from Mayo and Darren was a dedicated follower of the Mayo senior footballers, visiting Croke Park on several occasions to cheer them on. Last summer, Mayo's three best-known players - Aidan O'Shea, Cillian O'Connor and Lee Keegan - dropped into the Ruddy home to meet Darren. They stayed for over an hour with their inspirational supporter.
