Jimmy Byrne, Clonbonny, Athlone passed away on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 at the age of 82. A hard-working farmer and dedicated family man, Jimmy loved the GAA and played gaelic football himself. After retiring, he continued to support the local club with great enthusiasm. As a mark of respect to Jimmy, Athlone's U21 FC semi-final meeting with Rosemount was postponed and re-fixed.
