Donegal are through to the semi-finals of the Ulster U20 football championship thanks to a 3-16 to 0-17 win over All-Ireland champions Tyrone in Ballybofey last night.

Mark McDevitt’s goal helped the home side to lead by eight points at half-time, Conor McCahill and Dylan Mulholland raising green flags in the second-half which cemented the Tir Chonaill lads’ victory and place in the last four.

The result also means that Tyrone will have to come through a provincial quarter-final to keep their hopes of more silverware alive.

In Owenbeg, Derry made it two wins from two after a 3-21 to 1-10 victory over Monaghan.

Johnny McGuckian and Finn McEldowney netted goals for the Oak Leafers as they stayed on course for the knock-out stages, while Down saw off Antrim with a 5-19 to 0-21 win in Newry to get themselves off the mark in The Irish News Cup race.

Meanwhile, Cavan backed up last week’s draw with Monaghan by edging out Armagh with a 3-16 to 1-19 win at Kingspan Breffni.

After having trailed by 0-10 to 1-5 at half-time, Larry Reilly’s charges struck goals via Darragh Noonan and centre-back Evan Crowe before the points of Ben Tully and Lorcan Reilly (2) saw them over the line towards a vital victory.
