Just to wish James McCarthy well on his retirement, a sad day for lovers of Gaelic football, he was a fantastic player for Dublin and brilliant to watch always. Some record of medals and silverware he has won.
A class act from start to finish with the dignity to retire in the off season too unlike some others that I could mention announcing their retirement it in the weeks before an All Ireland final

Incredible player. I certainly won't miss seeing him as an opponent with the Dubs but without doubt one of the best to ever do it. Not many if any had his combination of pace, power, strength, determination and engine. Big loss to the Dubs but what a player for ye.

Great player, Think Kickham's tame exit from SFC was the last stand for Jamsie.

Best of luck to James Mc Carthy on his retirement, brilliant footballer and never sought the limelight. I always got the feeling that James was at his best when the game was in the melting pot.

My favourite player of all time without a shadow of a doubt. As you say a class act and a guy that is irreplaceable for the Dubs but he can sit back now and savour a truly incredible career.

One great bows out and one comes back in your own county.. .can Murphy make a big impact this year??

Ha ha where you getting your intel from? Rumours were rife last year too but didn't happen. If he does it will be massive even to have him as an impact player. Retired too soon for most but then you couldn't blame him with the **** show going on off the pitch.

James McCarthy - what a Legend he has been for Dublin GAA.
Definitely go down as one of the all time greats.

Injuries and too many miles on the clock, seem to have caught up with him unfortunately.
But what a stellar 15 year career, He has been a colossus.
Hopefully another couple of seasons with BK.

His list of honours include:-

Dublin-
All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (9) including one as Captain in 2023.
Leinster Senior Football Championship (14)
National Football League (6)
All-Ireland Under 21 Football Championship (1)
Leinster Under-21 Football Championship (2)

Ballymun Kickhams-
Leinster Senior Club Football Championship (1): 2012
Dublin Senior Football Championship (2): 2012, 2020

DCU-
Sigerson Cup (1)
O'Byrne Cup (1)

All Star (5)

I don't know about Murphy, the rumours are strong and we would all love to see him give it another go especially if the new 3 up rule comes in because it would suit him so well.

Servant, Legend, Warrior.

Arguably the greatest, amongst the greatest.

Certainly one of the most influential.

Retires as one of the most decorated players in the history of the game.

Owes Dublin Nothing.

Thanks for the amazing times Jamsie.

Remembered and revered were ever Sky Blue is worn.

Legend.
