In the Junior A competition it is only second teams remaining.

Can a senior clubs second team get promoted to Intermediate? I heard that this rule was changed and you can't have two teams within a division of each other. (ie if you have a senior team you can't get promoted to intermediate)

If so there will be no promotion from Junior A to Intermediate this year.

Open to corrections on this.

Second teams can be promoted to Intermediate. There are already a number of second teams up there, Turloughmore, Clarinbridge and Craughwell.
Due to our Senior B no man's land division, these teams aren't in a division next to their first team's in any case.

Good win for St Thomas's over Craughwell. Fairly close until the second half when Thomas's pulled away.

Great quarter final draw. Turloughmore on form should be favourites to get rid of Thomas' and the way Turlough are hurling I can't see them losing this one. Too much pace in their team and the young lads like Trayers and Cillian Whelan are going well.

Clarinbridge Larkins is a real 50:50 game, especially if Aaron is still out for Clarinbridge. I'd expect Sarsfields and Loughrea to come through the other two games.

All 1st and 2nd teams in their respective groups and great games to look forward too!
Cappy will give sarsfields plenty of it!
The Bridge will take Larkins
Cashel v Loughrea will be close
Turlough must hate playing Thomas' they can rarely get the better of them!

Still not 100% sure on Killimor yet because they were useless v Craughwell!!

I agree with most of what you said but I think Loughrea will destroy Cashel. Won't be close.

As per usual it's a double header both days in Athenry next weekend. Bridge against Larkins and Sarsfields-Cappy on Saturday followed by Loughrea Cashel and Thomas' against Turlough on Sunday.

It's great to have the mickey mouse pointless Preliminary Quarter Finals out of the way......these are proper Championship Quarter Finals in Senior.
As for Intermediate it's the Semi Final Draw I'm looking forward too because they will be two cracking games!
Just on the Loughrea v Castlegar QF....I don't think Loughrea will destroy Cashel, I reckon like Cappy v sarsfields game Cashel will give Loughrea plenty of it and it could be tighter than most expect!

Nothing against Cashel but Loughrea (like Bridge) have been knocking on the door and it's time for them to get over the hump. I hope it's a close one but I can't see it. I think Thomas's will finally shake off the rust and get their business done against Turlough.

Killimor are poor this year, alot of guys from the 2022 win have either emigrated or given it up, alot of youth on their side now they arnt the same animal they were, were trailing craughwell by 4 at ht the other night and only won by one, carnmore are dark horses this year they look to have their stuff in order, keep an eye on turlough eyrecourt, young McDermott did the acl who will be a big loss to them, ballygar and eyrecourt drew in the group stages and turlough bet ballygar handily in the end a shock could be in store!

Great weekend in store in Athenry. Four great quarter finals.

Clarinbridge Larkins is hard to call but I'd just about give a marginal edge to the bridge. Better free taker and an advantage on the sideline. Shane Ryan back will be a big help to them as well. Hopefully Aaron Niland is back for this one.

Really fancy Turlough to beat Thomas' by three or four points. Can't believe they aren't favourites to win the game. Turlough have great pace all over the field and a much stronger bench. Matchups look more favourable for them as well - Daithi on Conor Cooney and Dan Loftus on Eanna Burke. Don't see who picks up Sean O'Hanlon and Fintan doesn't have the pace for Sean Loftus if the ball going in is right.

Bit of a danger game for Sarsfields against Cappy if Joseph is a bit rusty in his first game back. Cappy have a dangerous forward line but at the other end Kevin Cooney should rack up enough to get them through.

Can't see Cashel beating Loughrea with how slick Loughrea looked against Clarinbridge. Still injured lads coming back for Loughrea as well in Dylan Shaughnessy, Paul Huban and possibly even Jamie Ryan.

Thomas's are champions for a reason. They'll get the job done. Loughrea should win. Bridge will probably win and I have no clue about the Sarsfields match. I'll flip a coin I suppose.

I'll go with St Thomas',Clarinbridge, Loughrea and Cappataggle all to win.
In the relegation Finals all classic East v South games.....you'd probably expect a comfortable clean sweep for South Galway!
Intermediate
Kiltormer v Kilbeacanty

Senior B
Ahascragh-Fohenagh v Beagh

Senior
Mullagh v Gort

Wouldn't it be perfect 6 team acca 30/1
Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry, Meelick-Eyrecourt, Killimor,Ahascragh-Fohenagh ,Mullagh and Cappataggle all to win!
There are atleast 2 chokers if not 3 in that group.....hopefully the "bottlers" won't "bottle " it.

I just can't see it with Thomas' this year. None of their performances to date have been convincing. Turlough are flying and have a better overall squad. I think Turlough win fairly comfortably but the beauty is we get to find out on Sunday.

You certainly didn't seem to know sh** from shinola when 'predicting' losers/'bottlers' at the recent Euro soccer championship ko phase. Perhaps you're more in tune with Galway hurling/'bottler' syndrome?
