Ah, Jaysus! All Kerry will be there for his autograph, so!

Yeah 10k is being a bit optimistic, I'd be shocked if there's even 10k at the game. I would expect Meath to outnumber Kerry 3 to 1 sort of thing though. The rest will be sitting at home waiting for the All Ireland final.

Does it really matter where it's played..? It's another nothing group game where both teams are safely qualified…. a glorified friendly ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 4017 - 07/06/2025 07:31:45 2615445 Link 1 |
It's hardly a "nothing group game". There's actually a lot riding on it for both sides: - if Meath win, they'll top the group, and go straight to a quarter-final instead of having to play a preliminary quarter-final. - Kerry will want to at least draw the game so that they'll be the ones going straight to a quarter-final. - Additionally, Meath know that if they lose, there's a chance they could drop to third and have to go away for a preliminary quarter-final, instead of being able to play it at home. It's far from a case of "ah, we're already through anyway, so the result here doesn't really matter". Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2919 - 07/06/2025 10:22:33 2615454 Link 1 |

Does either team get knocked out..? No… A Championship game where neither team gets knocked out means virtually nothing… The real thing won't start for either of them until their next match… Nothing to see here.. move on

Eh well if a county has ambition to move much further in competition, does a win here not mean actually a direct route to a quarter final and also an extra weeks grace in preparation for the quater final. I think for both teams, that is huge. The loser of this match should they actually manage to win the preliminary quater final will be at a huge disadvantage going into the next match. Maybe it's not like some of the weaker teams like Cavan or Clare who would be happy with their lot should they make the knock stages at all. winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 668 - 07/06/2025 13:55:14 2615491 Link 0 |
Some amount of chat here about the games having to be half way…. Where is that in the rule book? Just has to be neutral venue. Suck it up and move on veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 766 - 07/06/2025 15:23:33 2615513 Link 1 |
Exactly, but there are dimwits on here (many who never attend games) who can't figure that out. They are blind to the fact that most sporting competitions all over the world are not run on a straight knockout system. They shoukd probably stick to the knockout tennis championships and leave Gaelic Footbal to us people who attend games every week. I personally cant wait for next weekend . 8 important games to look forward to.
