Massive result for Wicklow to turn it around in the second half. Limerick having a good summer while Clare have an All Ireland group stage record of 9 losses from 9.

Just looking at the weekends results, would it be fair to say that Leinster footballing standards have risen with the Dubs coming back to the pack and the introduction of the "new rules" ? Ulster football is probably still tops.

Ulster football definitely the strongest across the board. They have more teams at a higher level.
Leinster has definitely improved, coinciding with the Dubs regressing a bit.
I know Cork got through, but if you swapped their group draw with the one Derry got, it's likely we'd have another Ulster team through and only Kerry from Munster.
As for Connacht, Galway and Mayo definitely landed in the two toughest groups, but at the same time Mayo didn't perform in the Cavan game which was crucial. We were also perilously close to being out after only 2 rounds. Rossies seem to have slipped slightly too, but they're still very competitive given their playing resources.

Excellent wins for Wicklow and Limerick. A very exciting competition this year. Kildare should have the quality to win it but you never know. When you look at the results of the final four, there's not much between them.

Dean Healy truly is one of Wicklow Greats. He started off at center half back line, then went to the 40 and now Midfield. He's been doing it for year...All-star stuff

Tailteann Cup semi-finals

Fermanagh v Kildare
Wicklow v Limerick

Both games will be played in Croke Park next weekend.

All 8 home teams in the PQFs and QFs won their games is interesting too. Obviously the home teams finished higher in their groups than the away teams, so could be said to be in better form to start with, but that's still a fair indicator that home advantage counts big time in the TC.

You could not really predict either semi final.

Replying To Freethinker:  "No problem there Sponger. My drinking days are long gone anyway. That was a great display today. I don't think that any of the other 3 will be counting their chickens if they draw us If we can't win it, I'd like to see Limerick do it. As a Sligo supporter said, Wicklow and Limerick have gone about their tasks with a minimum of fuss or publicity, no big heads, egos or sense of entitlement. Same could be said of Fermanagh. To me, Kildare have been coming across as if the cup was theirs already. And, maybe it will and the very best of luck to them if they can do it. One game at a time."
You're completely wrong there Freethinker with your assertion that 'kildare have been coming across as if they have the Cup already'. The supporters are not thinking that way and certainly not the team and management.

We might be the bookies favourite. However the tag of favouritism and Kildare are uneasy bedfellows. Any of the four teams are capable of winning it. Congrats on a fantastic win by Wicklow yesterday.

Those semi finals can go either way. I'm going with a Kildare v Limerick prediction but could easily be Fermanagh v Wicklow in the final.

I second that. Kildare just finished one point ahead of Fermanagh in the league. And drawing a line of form through Westmeath; Kildare, Wicklow and Limerick all won by a kick of the ball this year. Nothing between the 4 teams left in it and anyone can win it.

I had never seen him play before this year when I went to Wicklow Dublin. Him and Con were the best players on the pitch. He would get on basically any county team from what I've seen

Yep agreed, both Limerick & Wicklow will rightly believe they can win. Extremely tight match in the league that ended in a draw with Limerick scoring with the last kick of the game to effectively seal promotion, otherwise it would have been Wicklow going up.

Fermanagh will believe they can take Kildare too. Whichever 2 teams make the final, it won't be a shock.

All 4 teams left have a realistic chance of winning it out now. I don't regard Kildare as favourites . Having seen three of the teams in action, fermanagh being the exception, I regard Limerick as being the inform team. I like their style of play and movement.

Would it surprise me if Wicklow win the Tailteann, absolutely not. I think the eventually winner will be from our semi. It's all about momentum.

It matters little who wins the other semi, the fact is Wicklow will win the final, take your compliment.

Oisín came in 3 years ago ish,

Year 1 he put his cards on the table everyone including the Co board bought into it.

Year 2. His visionary plan brought them to div.3 with confidence building at pace.

Year 3. Wicklow now find themselves comfortably in the semi-final of the Tailteann Cup.

They will win out the final with a bit to spare.

In that case Kildare, Fermanagh and Limerick might as well not bother turning up and just hand over the Tailteann Cup to Wicklow .

Ah thanks for saving me the price of a ticket for Sunday. Best let all the Kildare and Fermanagh people know. Just hand the cup to Wicklow on Sunday...

Yes sponger 30 euro ticket price wont entice many casual fans to Croker on Sunday, Stadium likely will be empty enough without that pricing being put on the tickets.

What was the attendance at last years TC Semis between Antrim v Laois and Down v Sligo?I always find an empty hill is actually harder to shoot into against visually.

In terms of Sundays attendance probably do well to reach the 12k mark this weekend at TC Semis in Croker think previous years been below 10,000 mark.
Kildare likely bring biggest support, 4-5k, Wicklow might travel well, while cant see Limerick bringing many given hurlers in croker day before!

In this situation think the GAA should offer 50 free tickets to every club juveniles teams in participating counties and possibly subsidise transport to help get possibly 3-4 thousand kids into the game, give them a day out and add bit more atmosphere to the day. Its a win win in terms of promotion of games, positive experience and engaging new supporters at young age which could benefit hugely in longterm. The bigger picture isnt always thought about.
