Wexford Hurling 2025

Is there any car parks near Parnell Park lads? I remember it being a nightmare to find parking back in 2019 the last time we played championship there.

Replying To Doylerwex:  "I am guilty of it myself and I stand by it. It's hard to put into words but I'll try.

In my view, Wexford produce more natural hurlers. What I mean when I say that is lads who are instinctively good at the wristy stuff.

At senior level in particular, I believe our ceiling is higher than there's.

However, Dublin teams are always good athletes, who do the simple things well, and make few mistakes. The compound of that is they are very consistent, which amounts to better team performances.

Last season as actually a really great example.

We were excellent against Kilkenny and Galway. So so against Dublin, but really poor in the second half against Antrim. That put us in an awful position.

Dublin weren't great in any game. But were good enough to plug away in every game, which got them crucial points and a place in the Leinster final which they absolutely deserved.

In short, Dublin were reasonably good over 5 games.

We were great for a total of about 130 minutes in 5 games, at fairly weak for 40 crucial minutes which cost us badly. Namely 10 minutes against Dublin and Antrim, and 20 vs Kilkenny.

Chin, Rory, Reck and jippo are absolute superstars.

Burke is very good. O Donnell is class.

Collectively Dublin are a solid team, but ultimately Wexford have better players.

I hope that gives you some context. It's not arrogance, it doesn't mean we have a divine right to beat them. It is reality.

It is also reality that Dublin are better than us at doing just enough to sneak close games than we are. We can consistently hurl them off the field for 59 minutes each year and somehow find a way to not win. That's extremely frustrating and I dread playing them above all others in Leinster. They've 100% gotten inside my head and have been doing it since 2007."
"Natural hurlers." Hurling as genetic. Interesting. You ought to be cloning the lads from '96 and Chin so!

You could try driving to Greystones. There is a large Park and Ride (free) there. Then just get a DART to Killester. Parnell Park is just a short walk from the station there.

The last time I was up there, we parked at Whitehall church and it's about a mile down Collins avenue from there, I think there's a school somewhere along there that does parking as well.

No major car parks. I have my own spot in around the estate which is safe opposite the main stand I'll go a bit earlier to make sure I get it. I reckon it will be close to full Saturday so parking will be at a premium

Replying To Magpie2:  "That forward line you named may well be the team that lines out. With the exception of Chin it looks very lightweight. Of course we simply don't have guys with experience to replace Jacko.
Dublin will have a good deal of physicality in their back six so we will have to use speed and skill to overcome their height advantage.
Jack Redmond and Tucker Kinsella are options but both have limited experience at this level.
If Redmond is unavailable then it's odds on that Richie will play wing forward and the other five will probably be as they were last Saturday.
It's so important that when our lads come off the bench they make an impact. That is a worry based on the Antrim game."
If Shane Reck and Ryan are back our bench will automatically be stronger

Replying To ElGranSenor:  "Assuming Jippo is fit and neither Shane Reck nor Jack Redmond are, I think we could see....

Fanning
Eoin Ryan
Jippo
Conor Foley
Molloy
Damien Reck
McGuckian
Hearne
Donohoe
Lawlor
Kevin Foley
Chin
Dunbar
Rory
Cian Byrne"
That would be my preference also, our own puckouts are a big cause for concern I think, going short isn't viable for us due to how liable we are to make a mistake, maybe that changes with Jippo back, going long and we're really up against it considering the advantage they'll have in terms of physicality over us apart from Chin. Can see one of Foley, Lawlor or Dunbar going out the field as a third midfielder.

Eoin Ryan is a great young prospect but I dont he looks confident taking a short puckout yet. He has done very well for us and will be a big player in the years ahead no doubt. I think if Shane Reck is fit he has to start in the corner with Jippo full back and Conor Foley . All these lads are very confident taking a short puck out which we will need to do at times . I cant see us starting both Shane and Liam though I think it may only be one of them. Some big calls for the management team I suspect we wont know the starting 15 until before throw in Saturday.

Only the church beside the ground, if there early you'll be grand. You could get in early snd have a drink in Craobh Ciaran club house, that's what did the last time.

Surprised to see we're 4/7 favourites Saturday, Dublin 17/10?
