Senior Club Football Championships 2024/25 - General Discussion

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

In the absence of the preseason competitions, a great start to the year in fairness with the two semi finals. Might be a positive unintended consequence of the games get some more media coverage. There is definitely scope for the club provincial and club All Ireland to get more media focus. The Sunday Club Game or whatever on RTE on a Sunday evening needs to be brought in.

Good that the neutrals get to see both games live on TG4"
Terrible decision to put game on in Kingspan Breffni unless swayed by the availability of lights . Glennon Brothers Pearse Park would have ideal ,bang in the middle with the N4/M4 and trai Station 20 minutes from the ground for the Culla express"
Cavan is more in the middle than longford for the 2 teams"]Better road to Longford for both though

Last Connacht v Leinster Senior club Semi final was also in Breffni. Pearse Park got Crossmolina (Mayo) v Caragh (Kildare) intermediate semi final and weren't going to get two semi finals.

SUNDAY 5 JANUARY
All-Ireland Club SFC semi-finals
Coolera Strandhill (Sligo) v Cuala (Dublin), Kingspan Breffni, 1.30pm
Dr Crokes (Kerry) v Errigal Ciaran (Tyrone), Laois Hire O'Moore Park, 3.30pm
Crokes are in for a difficult semi final. Errigal Ciaran have gotten through some tough fixtures. Cuala expected to get through the other semi final but Coolera Strandhill have no problem with that, as shown by their progress through Connacht.

Enda McGinley is doing a super job with Errigal Ciaran. Dr Crokes are really going to be up against it. On paper it looks to be the closest semi final.

Errigal at 5/2 to win the competition outright is a spanking bet imho. Will be odds on to win final if they beat Crokes which i think they will.

Was counting the days down this match and now it's off. Correct decision but still a disappointment. The county players on these teams have no let up with the NFL starting last week in Jan.

If I was offered a free bet, Errigal Ciaran would be tempting.
Following a pitch inspection of Laois Hire O'Moore Park this Saturday morning January 4th, the AIB All-Ireland Club SFC semi-final between Dr. Crokes and Errigal Ciarán, which was due to be played tomorrow, has been postponed until Saturday, January 11th.

Is it not in Parnell tomorrow? That's what I heard. Parnell be fine from where I am a few miles up the road. Unless travel conditions be issue?

These club players should be rested from the first two rounds of the league at least. Madness last year that Conor Glass and co were playing in Tralee only a week after the All Ireland club final. Any manager doing that is going to come in for criticism.

See that now. Were saying earlier it was Parnell.

You might be mixing that up with Austin Stacks and Ballinderry. The intermediate semi final has been switched to Parnell Park.

Yes. I think they had considered other. Be short break for winner. Not necessarily disadvantage but im sure theyd prefer two weeks.

I know this thread is about the Senior club championship, but a quick word on the intermediate semis yesterday.
Crossmolina look like a strong team and have some talented young players. It's great to see them back after a fairly long absence from senior level in Mayo. They went down to intermediate and even junior I believe, not too long after contesting two senior All-Ireland finals.
The second semi-final had two clubs who've won plenty senior county titles, both also senior All-Ireland champions in the past. I thought Stacks would be too strong, but Ballinderry stepped up big time in the second half and we're very deserving winners.
An interesting final in store. Hard to pick a winner.

Would expect Dr Crokes to hammer Errigal Ciaran and Cuala likewise.

Dr crokes 15/8 to win championship. Backed them 12/1 in October. Put 1k on them. Looking good for it.
