Freethinker might not consider Fermanagh to be part of Ireland.

Sure, its not even in "Europe. "

Nope. Just a very happy person at what's FINALLY going on as far as fixing long overdue problems go. Over $36 Trillion in debt is disgraceful and needs to be addressed and it FINALLY is. It's long overdue and pathetic that it takes an outsider like Elon Musk to get it done. Crooked dirty politicians from both parties have kicked the can down the road for far too long.

I am quite aware of the dad being from Fermanagh. That wasn't what I was trying to say. I'll try again. We have people in Ireland who have differing views on being Irish. That is why I mentioned Rashida. She is trolled brutally about her heritage by some keyboard warriors. My point was that, if, Bundi et al remain living here, would their children be accepted by all as being Irish and as such, should they be talented enough to play any sport for Ireland or would we still have these "qualifications ". To me they absolutely would be Irish. To me, anyone who wants to be classed as Irish, feel free.

Exactly my point. None of those 3 have sailed on into the sunset like the lads named at the start of that article. All 3 have spent nearly half their lives here at this stage.
And when they came here they weren't coming to fill positions of need. None of those 3 would have made the Irish team, or even maybe the bench, the years they arrived in Ireland.
They have become the players they have become in Ireland, they were all far from the finished article when they came here."
You're having a laugh."]Gibson Park didn't make an Irish squad til over a year after he was eligible. And didn't make his 1st start til over a year after that again. Aki came here hoping to play International rugby, fell in love with the place and stayed, despite getting far larger amounts of money offered to play in England and France since. Lowe hasn't been a regular starter his whole Irish career, very frustrating player to watch at times.
So no, I'm not having a laugh.

We will agree that it was a very poor example.

Only difficulty I see here is , how much of this can you believe? . Mr T has an ambivalent attitude to facts and alternate facts. Truth seems to be whatever he thinks at any particular moment. And the real president - yes, in my humble opinion, Mr Musk - will happily tell him what he wants to hear. I would prefer to see what the state of play is in , say 12 months. Then it will be obvious to all how this is really working out. Look, I'm very happy that you are happy. What happens in America is strictly Americas business and I respect that. Now, Europe and the rest of the world is a different matter. More on that anon. The old saying comes to mind though - Beware of Greeks bearing gifts.

Born in Ireland or having Irish parents… it's quite simple really… Just because someone gets Irish citizenship ( which seems to be hundreds every month for some reason when our own citizens are homeless ) doesn't make them Irish… You never give up where you come from .. let it be your home country or county… unless you're a total nob altogether…!

Waiting 12 months to evaluate and see is perfectly reasonable.

A passport or having children here doesn't make them Irish. Their children are Irish. Not disputing they're not good players, very good in Park's case, or sound men. Bundee is a folk hero in Galway. Delighted for them that they're doing well. Less delighted that some Irish lads won't get caps because they're declared Irish.

Wait until Trump attempts to introduce his corporate tax reduction plan, which will primarily benefit his billionaire friends. It will add 5 trillion to national debt. You're right, we'll see the landscape in a year, but it is clear to me that Trump wants to depart NATO, befriend Putin at the expense of the liberal, socialist Europeans, and eventually attack China

Nothing personal to the players in question, I don't begrudge them, but would prefer in an ideal world to have a team of players raised here. Odd that some posters seem to believe Ireland are unique in having foreign players when it has very clearly been widely exploited by every 6N team. France and England having a massively wider playing pool yet still capping multiple non-natives while often sneering at others for the same"
It happens in all sports. Its simply players qualifying on resodency grounds. Soccer and any other international sport has it. No big deal. Woth the globalised world we live in you have to allow for it
