You responded me long before that, several times in fact, despite saying on here you never would again. You're from the from the right county anyway, good at the talk, not so much at the walk. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1030 - 12/11/2024 12:37:50 2579354 Link 1 |

But your self worth is sky rocketed because you told a few Donegal lads on an anonymous forum what's what. Oh and a few Trump supporters as well. Great to see you living your best life. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1030 - 12/11/2024 13:51:22 2579361 Link 1 |
As Simon Harris has said today; if people want the greens out of government, then they need to give FF/FG (or FF/SF) enough seats to form a coalition. Voting for independents worked for Healy-Rae voters back in the day but it won't work country-wide and essentially becomes a wasted vote. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5181 - 12/11/2024 13:56:28 2579364 Link 1 |
Stick to this thread lad. All the best. Xxxx

There's a not insignificant chance there'll be an alliance of FF/FG aligned "independents" available to replace the greens in maintaining our democracy :)

Some of the rubbish posted in this thread really sums up the disdain a lot of Irish people have towards younger generations. A lot of young people work hard and you lot are complaining about them enjoying their weekends. I know people in my own family who have saved up and still can't find anywhere to rent. The cost of building a house has skyrocketed due to materials cost. The truth is that we build a lot of houses here but the demand is too high and that is down to immigration since we've had a net loss of Irish people since Covid. Canada has now decided to cut immigration and admitted that it would have an impact on the cost of rent. Rolo2010 (Donegal) - Posts: 745 - 12/11/2024 15:14:14 2579377 Link 0 |

It would make you wonder were previous generations calling younger generations soft for not living in tenements or clocháns etc. Monty Python's 4 Yorkshiremen sketch always springs to mind

I wasn't talking about your age. Ages of anonymous posters aren't really top of my priority list to be honest. Keep guessing though, you might get it eventually. +59 peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1030 - 12/11/2024 15:45:19 2579382 Link 1 |
It's not down solely to immigration down greed mlre do ok may not help but can't blame all on immigration I do agree ridiculous people clearly deluded out touch middle aged people or people or high income think it will become better by enjoying an odd weekend. Agree. Especially if clowns on this blaming young people for nit affording rents even with a good job can't afford so called affordable houses . Clearly grew up different generation and wasn't older ones that caused housing crisis initially with out of control spending and ghost houses not down Immigration increase soley either Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 513 - 12/11/2024 15:55:40 2579387 Link 1 |
I never said it was but our population is increasing faster than we can build houses. Other countries such as Australia and Canada have figured this out and that is why they are reducing the numbers coming in. Young people should be able to go out and enjoy themselves and still be able to afford rent.

Perhaps. It's always been a minority but they are very vocal and tend to make up a big portion of our political and media class.

It doesn't matter how or when or who caused the crisis. It's here now. Who are young people anyway? Under 30s, under 40s? You're not getting far on €100 for a night out. Surprised if too many go out every weekend like I used to in my 30s and single. Wouldn't even contemplate looking for a mortgage in the noughties. Once a month will save you 3-4K. Banks look at every detail of your income and outgoings. Check your existing loans, your car(do you need such a big car to drive to and from work) , petrol spend, Revolut, your phone, your online purchases. One good tip someone gave me, if your partner is pregnant and your looking for a mortgage do not tell the bank. Close all betting accounts, something that kills many mortgage applications. Get a second job if you have to to get that mortgage. Times have changed for definite, and some people don't qualify for mortgages, or look likely to get that inflated price house in the street where they lived, in their present circumstance. But going out on the lash most weeks and complaining about is hypocrisy.
